Homeworld 2 isn’t the only game where I utterly hated the singleplayer aspect but enjoyed the multiplayer. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the first. Both games are plagued with unbearable singleplayer designs, but blessed with an interesting multiplayer game.
RtCW had a more engaging multiplayer experience and its singleplayer was merely bland, rather than infuriating – hence it came away with a higher score. However, it’s worth noting that for all the vitriol in the review, Homeworld 2’s singleplayer campaign can be passed and there is a measure of satisfaction in beating impossible odds.
