The new 2D simulation has its flaws, but is a major improvement nevertheless.
It’s not perfect – for example, you have to clear players off a hotlist individually – but the interface is slightly cleaner and really benefits from the new Front Office screen.
We’re not absolutely sure, but it seems as if the simulation runs somewhat faster than EHM 2005.
This is, by far, the best hockey sim on the market. Unless you like soccer, this is also the best sports management sim available. The amount of detail and realism available is phenomenal. Just the sheer number of teams and leagues is impressive.
The EHM team is remarkably active in its forums and produces prompt patches that clearly address the dominant issues of the player base. Major kudos here.
A few bugs
Nothing serious, just some problems in tabulating scoring of assists, and the AI needs to value its players better before putting them on waivers.
My Oilers constantly make cash calls and struggle to sell out games, when in real life they were profitable last season and sold out almost all games. Similar issues can be reported for other teams. Some players are also under- or over-rated, though this is highly subjective. Player ratings are almost always far superior to NHL 2K7 and especially NHL 07, however.
