Redline: Car and foot combat

CalBear:
A lot of people complain that first person action games are all variations of the same thing. You walk around, pick up some big, powerful weapons and gun down your enemies. So what's better than walking around with big ass guns, and mowing down your opponents with those high powered weapons? OK, some people would say that nothing beats that, but I'd have to say that DRIVING around some tricked up cars with big ass guns would qualify as something better. The developers at Beyond Games and Accolade tend to agree, but they go one up on you. Their new action game, Redline, allows you to blast your enemies on foot AND from the luxurious confines of various cars. The element of strategy comes in as you have to decide when and where is a good time to get in or out of your car. This principle becomes important in both the single player and multiplayer aspect of Redline.

The Story

Thresh:
The story of Redline is set in a post apocalyptic future. Times are bleak for humankind, and armed gangs rule the outside world. A particularly brutal gang of mutants, known as the Red Sixers, has just broken into your town and decided to eat the residents! You're not going to stand for this, so you pick up your trusty machine gun/bone saw and jump in your car to kick some Red Sixer ass! These exploits earn you the attention of "The Company," a high profile gang that you've been trying to get into for a long time. You're going to have to work your way up in "The Company" and lead them into armed arena combat against the other 3 major gangs - Red Six, the Templars, and the Lepers.

Red Six are extremely violent mutants who like nothing better than death and destruction. Lepers are just that - they're humans whose bodies are falling apart from the radiation levels in the earth. They're armed to the teeth and out looking for spare parts like arms and legs. The Templars are not the Psi Storm casting priests that you've come to know and love in Starcraft. Rather, these Templars are a funky religious cult that believes all horror films are prophecies that are destined to occur. And you thought Heaven's Gate and David Koresh were kooky.
