Super Units

The big boys

TAK features super units like Dragons. Each side has their own dragon, and they're very expensive to build like the nuke in the original Total Annihilation. They're very powerful and destructive though, and should take a lot of firepower (or maybe your own dragon) to bring one down. Want something bigger and more powerful? Cavedog has also introduced Gods to the game which add a bit of randomness. A big problem with TA is that the game could drag out too long. If this starts to happen in TAK, a God will appear and serve as basically one big ass kicker for players to use. It's possible to kill one, but they could help swing the tide of the war one way or another.

Don't rush into things

Aside from keeping games from running too long, Cavedog has also tried to combat the rush, which can make games too short and unsatisfying. Like other RTSs, the plan to prevent rushes was to beef up early, basic defenses. Overall it looks like Cavedog is trying to make sure the game runs for a nice satisfying length of time. Not too long so that it's ridiculous, but no quickee 5 minute rushes either.
