A Brief Setup

Developer: Legend
Publisher: GT Interactive

No, no stories this time…

I've never read a Wheel of Time book, never glanced at a single word of Robert Jordan's, so I felt kind of inadequate when it comes to the task of reviewing the game. Fortunately, I thought of the bright side - this is the review to read if you're in the same situation as I am and considering buying WoT.

On to the review!

incredible sky and rock textures

Out of the Box

The box shipped to me wasn't quite that impressive, being bent and twisted in horrible ways since someone (no names :) at FS home base decided to take a few moments out with the game (actually he heard about the 'mistress' poster that ships with the game. ;)

Ed - hey, the box arrived to us from GT all mangled like that. I swear. Yeah...uh...that's my story and I'm sticking with it.

OK, ok, enough teasing. The manual is about the size of a palm pilot but is fairly well done with all the basics needed to get you going. Getting the game to actually go might be a bit of a problem, as I've heard a few complaints about the copy protection not liking some CD-ROM drives, though experienced none myself.

lightning flash

Installation was painless, although some people are reporting problem because the 10th mission map won't install and the setup then exits… Apparently the cause is a faulty disc. There are some workarounds available at GT's tech support site.

Wheel of Time Review [ note quite as welcome as grandmas @ 640 x 480 ] > View Full-Size in another window.

the story revealed

So anyway, back to the manual. It gives brief but decent descriptions of each of the ter'angreal (magical artifacts that act like weapons, armor, etc), a few of your foes, and a cursory glance at the multiplayer game types.
