In Far Cry, the e-GeForce 7800 GT CO Edition board outran the stock GeForce 7800 GT by 11% at 1600x1200 with 4xAA/16xAF, and BFG’s GeForce 7800 GT by 6% at the same resolution. Battlefield 2 performance at 1600x1200 favors the e-GeForce 7800 GT CO Edition by an even larger amount, with the 7800 GT CO board delivering 14% more performance than the stock 7800 GT and 7% faster than the BFG card.
In fact, EVGA’s e-GeForce 7800 GT CO Edition runs so fast, it nearly equaled the performance of NVIDIA’s more expensive GeForce 7800 GTX in our testing. When overclocked, the EVGA board actually matched the performance of the GeForce 7800 GTX in F.E.A.R. That’s pretty impressive when you consider that the e-GeForce 7800 GT CO Edition is expected to sell for about $370 once it hits online retailers in the next week or two, that’s roughly $100 less than what most GeForce 7800 GTX cards are selling for, and about $20 more than the lowest GeForce 7800 GT listings.
It’s because of this that the e-GeForce 7800 GT CO Edition earns our Bull’s Eye Award with a 94% rating. You’d be hard-pressed to find a better GeForce 7800 GT board on the market right now. In our opinion, EVGA has produced a 7800 GT card that’s designed for the enthusiast or gamer on a budget who wants GeForce 7800 GTX-class performance and features, but doesn’t want to pay the premium pricetag.
