 Mysterious Rectangular Box

First side slid back to reveal opening

Second side slid further allowing top to be removed

 Thumb drive revealed

 From the desk of Loki.....

 Cipher key 5

 Decryption Key

| Who is Loki? What is the Vanishing Point? What is going to happen on Monday January 8th at 6:30PM at the Bellagio fountain in Las Vegas?
There are so many clues, tons of speculation, but no answers yet.
So, what am I talking about? For those of you who haven’t been following this story, let me start at the beginning.
Sometime during the last week of 2006, Microsoft sent out hundreds (maybe thousands) of gray envelopes to different people across a broad spectrum of computer interests. I assume I was included in this mailing because I am a long time member of the Hive, a Microsoft forum designed to bring together leaders from a broad spectrum of interests. Inside the envelope was a high quality wooden rectangular box with a crosshatch and mosaic pattern engraved on the outside, and a note. The note read as follows;
From the Desk of Loki…
You are now a decoder. There are only a few like you, but thousands more are looking for you. Find the other decoders before zero hour. Go to: www.vanishingpointgame.com
A spectacular adventure is on the horizon…. Can you find it before it disappears?
- L
P.S. I’ve hidden something in a puzzle box for you. Find the box, find a way to open it….
The box required one end to be moved 1/16th of an inch, the lid slid towards that end and then the opposite end to be slid 1/8th of an inch before the lid would slide all the way off. Inside was a USB thumb drive. On the Thumb drive were 3 files. A video file, the same note from Loki, and an image with an encrypted message.
My first stop to the website vanishingpointgame.com revealed that I would need to decipher my key before I could get any further. Fortunately, a few communities were already buzzing with their solutions and once I found the key, my solution was at hand. Microsoft had very cleverly hidden the key in a few innocuous places with a subtitle stating “most of you won’t get this.” Chances are, thousands of people looked at that key and had no idea what it meant.
My encrypted message deciphered to imm0rtaliz3m3, which when entered into the vanishingpointgame website, revealed an audio file. When viewed as a wave form, the audio revealed the word File. When added to the URL, a new page with another clue.
So now there are 6 keys that have been deciphered and 6 more clues. No one knows what the clues mean yet. I suspect we’ll all find out come Monday.
If you think you are smart, and want to have a crack at this, here are the links to all 6 clues:

We already know that MS will be giving away high-end laptops, gaming computers, media centers, software, gaming consoles, media players, and games. The question remains, what would the grand prize be that would make a person so famous that your name would be repeated as many times as grains of sand on a beach?
Thanks to the following groups and people who have helped to decipher the keys:
Neowin.net
HeavenGames.com
Lokivanishes – no doubt a mole inside Microsoft
Doug Stockwell
Ehsan from unfiction
We also have to thank 42Entertainment for creating this game in the first place.External Link: http://vanishingpointgame.com
