Welcome to todays game sound quiz.
This is my first blog entry so I tried to do something different with it.
Anyway, the object of the game is simple, just listen to the 15 sec clip and guess what game it's from. 10 points for a correct answer and bonus points will be given for any extra information.

Edit: I have now added another hint about the game in form of a screen shot. At first it may look like any other screen shot, but the characters are first introduced in this game.

I didn't know that, that was quite interesting although it wasn't about the game in question it was the same franchise so I'll award you a bonus point.

I'd be guessing it's the MegaCD version of Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog CD). The Dreamcast versions onwards have been 3D and as you say, the Genesis / Mega Drive couldn't handle music of that quality.

The new characters you're talking about were Metal Sonic and Amy Rose.

Someone mentioned Knuckles (your avatar). He appeared as a bad guy in Sonic 3, and then made a playable appearance in Sonic and Knuckles.

You got it! It was Mega CD version of Sonic called Sonic CD.

It may not be sonic, but it's the guy in your avatar.... =P I haven't played sonic-style games since sonic came out on the genesis. OH those poor bunnies and squirrels.

Well, actually that was my first thought when picking a song, but I thought that would make it to obvious. I don't know if it's possible to hear it in this 128bit encode, but it's of much higher sound quality than regular Genesis can make. In fact the Genesis did have rather poor sound quality compaired to SNES IIRC (if I remember correctly).

You are on the right franchise, but which Sonic game is it?
(might be too difficult for Americans because it's a Japanese import, Hint right here)
