friendly AMD Game Review Writing Contest Rules! (12 comments )

A couple announcements here, fearless AMD Group members. First, Dave has had to step back from this cluster management because he is too busy with work and family, but he should be around from time to time to lend a hand and some sage advice, as only Dave can do!

Also, for those that missed the Sticky News Post,here are the rules and schedules for the contest:

We’re looking for any review of any PC game out there-it could be the original Doom, or try your hand at reviewing Bioshock. The only stipulation is that it has to be less than 500 words and it has to be posted as a media blog in the AMD Contest group.

The grand prize winner will get AMD’s hottest and most anticipated new product: their soon-to-be-announced, next-generation graphics card!

2 runners up will receive AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Black Edition 5000+ processors.

Schedule:

Preliminary 1 (open to all): Oct 30-November 6
Preliminary 2 (open to all): Nov 7-13
Round 2 (top 10 from Prelim 1 and 2): Nov 14-20
Final (top 2 from R 2): Nov 21-27

well, assuming it's alright to enter again for prelim 2 i'll post another review i've written :)

also, what's with Round 2 and the Final round? will we have to write new reviews or do the judges just scrutinize the reviews more closely this time?

no worries, unless I'm not actually allowed to enter prelim 2 since i'm already in Round 2 and I can withdraw it (maybe make improvements for Round 2?) just thinking....

The Editor's Challenge final was also a battle between the top 2. I don't see why they would change the system now, nor do I see a reason for the Finals (which are generally 1v1 affairs) to be a best of 3?

I was just thinking it would be easier if the three finalists who were getting prizes knew who they were.

With the top 2, they'll both obviously get something, but what about third place?

The best three from round two will be announced (1st and 2nd place go to finals whilst 3rd place gets his CPU and that's it). The two finalists duke it out and the winner gets the GPU and 2nd place person gets a CPU.
