Well I won a 1950pro the other day. I came in 5th but still firingsquad came threw with a great prize. The first thought I had was what to do with it? I have a 2900xt that I game on and a passively cooled 2600xt (msi wanted to update the bios so it’s on the way back from Cali as I type) that is normally in my surfing rig. When I did my O.C. guide I had a 7100 passively cooled card in that computer. See picture one. Very low 3d mark 05 score. Well Canada Dave e-mails me and says were is my review of the 1950 pro? I say what review? Then he’s like you got to write a review for it. Well I say it’s still sealed in the box sitting on top of my desk! So I open it up. First problem I run into, my surfer rig has got an older antec power supply that I have modded a little. I had removed the extra wires; leaving 2 open Molex and 2 open sata plugs by chance I also left the 8 pin CPU plug. I had removed the six pin power connecters and a heap of other wires; it was an eps 550 watt sever power supply. Well like anyone that builds systems for people I have boxes and boxes of wires, cables, adapters, and in-put out-put brackets! So the search begins. I needed an adapter to go from Molex to pci-express 6 pin. None, zero, zilch, Nada, but I did have some 6pin modular cables from some previous builds. A six pin pci-e power plug has 3 yellow wires and 3 black wires. An 8 pin CPU power plug has 4 yellow and 4 black. A little cut and splice I have power for my 1950 pro. With great reluctance I hit the power button (had my hand on the main power plug just in case) poof it’s up and running. Only about 3hours to install gfx card and turn it on. Not a thing to be proud of but dam after the fact, should just have modded the power plug in the first place. Thanks Dave for the very interesting Sunday!!! Going from a passively cooled card to a fan cooled card, I thought would be more annoying not so. The 1950pro's fan is quiet, no full speed rev during start up (i had an 1800xt before) it’s not silent but it’s no vacuum cleaner. My first thought is what to do with a gaming card on web browsing computer? So I watched 2 DVD’s while I did laundry. Very impressive, no stutters nice crisp clear picture. Then I surfed, nice no stutters nice crisp clear web pages. Now some over clocking. I went from 574 stock vpu to 614, 688 to 722 memory And again movies look great and web pages look fine. So now its time for the 3d mark 05 tests. Very nice increase I can game on my surfer wow!! I am very thankful for this card it is very nice .

» Congratulations!
Congratulations, Mike - we're glad you like the hardware.

Everyone - We're all anxious to see what you can do in terms of a review for the products that you won during the recent AMD contests. People from several companies are indeed watching these, so remember to put your best foot forward in your product reviews!

Once again, congratulations to all our winners. :)
