Round 3 Rules
Posted 74 months ago

You've all done a terrific job promoting yourselves in the Challenge Round, but now it's time to get serious. Following this round we will be chosing the top 2 finalists. Each will receive brand new computer equipment that they will need to assemble and test and provide full reviews and analysis of their hardware within the given time restraints of the contest. The equipment for the 2 finalists will include, cases, power supplies, motherboards, memory, cpu's, cpu coolers, and of course video cards. We'll provide the full specs of these systems soon.

We've seen exceptional writing from everyone, but for this season, the contestants with a strong technical ability are obviously at an advantage over those who are stonger game reviewers. That is going to continue into this round and into the finals.

For round 3 you must prepare an mblog that provides a performance analysis of either a CPU or a GPU. Your analysis must include an introduction, critical analysis, ballistics report and a verdict. As usual, use the multimedia features of the system to support your articles.

You are not required to buy anything new. Just use the hardware at your disposal. We're not looking for the person with the best hardware, but at who can provide a logical and narrative analysis that accurately describes the hardware under investigation.

As usual, email if you have any questions or need help. The judges are here at your disposal, so don't hesitate to reach out to them.

Dates:
Cluster freezes midnight Wednesday April 4th.
Voting ends midnight Monday April 9th.

I printed page 2, signed it, scanned it and saved it. I opened page one in photoshop and edited it with the text tool and saved it. Then I sent them both back as attachments.

how do i fill out and email the .pdf affidavit? acrobat reader doesn't allow text entry as far as i can tell, and i don't have access to a fax machine.

Can't you just take screen shots of the pages in the pdf file and then edit them in a photo editing program. And then insert the text in the right places using comic sans font.

You can also just use the acrobat's 'snap-shot tool' to copy and paste the stuff and then sign in MS-Paint.

Hey, Dan - I noticed that neither my avatar nor Power666's shows up in the article listing page, though it shows up on the matrix page (and when you open the article itself). It only goes back to the "no avatar" image on the cluster page.

No biggie - but just noticed and thought it was odd.

Why don't just complain directly to Pongkys' matrix cluster.

Hmm, this is interesting, I can't see DaugWok's article, or my own on the front page.

Fixed. For some reason (I've alerted our crack programing team) mblogs drop off that list to show on the homepage every once in a while. I know they were both on the list yesterday.

that's good to hear.

hopefully pongky can now solve the email issue where they're not getting their codes... or when they are, they're not working...

I'd say that most of the people that told me they were registering had some sort of issue, even the ones that eventually made it through.

I still have some people saying that the passwords that were sent to them are not working. I have told them that the passwords are case-sensitive -- anything else I should tell them or that they can do?

Thanks I will let the 12 or so folks who reported problems know they can come vote.

I don't have 12 or so folks. I have... uh.. 120! Yeah they're all signing up right now, you might as well just acquiesce right now.

To be honest I'd like to crop the nonsensical anonymous post out of my article comments.

I'd also like to see my submission up on the front page. Anyone else unable to see their own article on the front page? I always see two articles by Buc, one from last round and one from this round.
