I doubt it..I love playing both console and PC games of all types; hardcore and casual games; next-gen graphics and old time console ports. There will always be room for games.
Hey Jcal, i am using an outdated rig and i was wondering when the next time to upgrade would be? i was told to wait for PCI Express 2 because the prices will drop dramatically, whats your stance on buying a new pc right now?

This is not an unusual occurrence at all. Over 50 percent of all games sold in the US are sold in the final three months of the year so game publishers traditionally push a lot of major AAA product to stores in this time period. The change in E3 has nothing to do with it; it's always been this way

IMO, the answer is going to depend on what your current setup is like, and if you're happy with its current performance. If you've got a decent rig now then yes, I would wait a few more months before upgrading. If you can't afford to wait though then you've got to do what you've got to do!
Don't wait for PCIe 2.0. Obviously we still aren't tapping the full potential of PCIe yet (just look at my X1950 Pro AGP vs PCIe benches for proof of that). Wait because we'll have new hardware before the end of this year that will drive prices on existing components down.
I've asked Brandon to jump in here. Don't know if he will have time as he's up against another deadline for some new piece of hardware that everyone has been waiting for in order to drive down pricing so that guys like Fisherman and myself can afford to upgrade their PC hardware. Phew, that was a long sentence.

This is actually a question that would be more suited to Brandon who is our resident hardware editor. All I can say is that PC hardware changes every few months (a new processor, a new graphics chip, etc) so there will always be something on the horizon that some people might consider "waiting" for. Again, Brandon is the man to talk to about this issue.
