Public voting was destroyed by well.. the public. A few people decided to cheat the system. I'm glad that the firingsquad editors decided to even out the playing field.
The #1 rated screen shot was not even close to the best screen shot. I think we can all agree that the dear over the head screen shot did not deserve to win this contest. Funny how it was one of the few that magically got a bunch of high votes the last couple days.
true, but it makes one wonder about the necessity of having votes in the first place. it is also interesting that these votes were so low, but in the writing cluster they are high... and then in the video cluster low again.
yeah, I've rated everything 5-10. my avg rating is prolly 7.5, which is higher than any aggregate atm. I'm sure if there were nothing at stake (and people were still posting these, for some reason!) then we'd see lots of 8's and 9's.
seriously, the better it is, the lower it goes, because people see it as a threat and give it a 1. just watch the math of it... as soon as your entry gets a lead, it gets tagged, and you can easily see how low of a vote it got. I do not mind if someone gives me a 4 or something if they do not like it, but I get lots of 1 votes. just look at my video editor entry, almost half my votes are 1`s
I've tried to rate everything as honestly as possible. I know there are some who are playing games though, as a number of my better shots received ratings of '1' just before the original contest deadline last night.
I'm particularly proud of my "View Distance Comparison" shot. It took a little while to find the perfect setting for it. I think it's my best shot, but the ratings don't seem to bear that out. :P
Dude I am going to be pissed if you guys allow the Movie makers who had videos over 10 seoonds win this thing. I asked specifically if we could get an extension of the movie length because 10 seoonds was not long enough. The rules specify that movies cannot be longer than 10 seconds yet every movie submitted is way over 10 seconds.
