| | Don't sweat the copy protection if you have Vista -- the game crashes and makes the game unplayable. It actually BSODs with a wonderful memory dump when you try to hack the robot in the medical lab -- which you need to hack if you want to continue. New beta Nvidia drivers nor DirectX updates helped. The game is DOA. Flag this | Edit this post |

| WARNING:
With a Vista 64bit machine I encountered a game-breaking "bug" that caused the game to crash to a BOD (memory dump and reboot).
My Specs:
Intel DP965LT mainboard
EVGA 8800 GTS 320
4gb Mushkin ram (spec'd specifically for the 965 board and its voltage requirements)
Vista Ultimate 64bit
The machine was rebuilt on Sunday -- all drivers were the latest (except the DirectX and Nvidia updated noted above).
I have now returned the game and will be using the built-in complete backup in Vista to "restore" the machine. I do not really want the DirectX or beta Nvidia drivers on the machine -- I prefer to run with "released" versions.
I would not get the PC version of this game if you are running Vista -- wait until you are sure they have patched the product. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I have 4gb of ram which has been more than enough... 8gb would likely be useful if you are running a lot of virtual machines, but for standard users would be overkill. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I think on other person commented that what really has to happen is that the tools to make games need to become better so that the game design teams can focus on content.
Perhaps the ID Team, Epic Team, and Monolith Teams should be the ones making engines and every other development team should chose one of those to exploit or tweak.
I take a look at the engine used in NWN 2 and shudder that the dev team thought that it was a good engine... performance was terrible even on high end machines.
Then I look at games like Guild Wars that had fantastic performance and excellent graphics.
Two different teams - one result fantastic the other mediocre. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Well... I do have some code I could post in C# and a small .dll that could be included in .Net applications you make.
I have to figure out a way to keep the formatting here... any ideas?

| It will be nice when the judges make the final comments/scoring public as they promised to do. I hope to use those comments to improve for season two.

| | I have some good ideas for how to achieve traffic building and clean up the down-voting issues for "season two", but I will leave those suggestions for later. No sense in muddling the waters while the contest is going on. Flag this | Edit this post |
