| Thanks... Dave. I put alot of effort in to the article and really pushed to get people to the site to vote. I did not push people in the other rounds, but this one I did. Winning the computer would have made a tremendous impact on my life so I became invested in the process.
I was on the first page of a google search for NVIDIA 8800GTX and was a front page link from a Linux gaming site (http://gaming.gwos.org/news.php) so I should have been getting a lot of hits as well.
The toughest part was going to sleep Monday (I was sick so went to bed early) in the lead with you and waking up in fourth place. Finding out later that it was the last two votes I received that dropped me out of first place to fourth was even more crushing. With 60 votes I had a score of 88 even which means the last two votes I received were 1s. That really made me feel ripped off with the public part of this.
I want to make it clear that I do not feel that any contestant cheated nor do I think that the judging from the FS staff was unfair in anyway... I am just expressing the frustrations associated with the voting system that allowed for down-voting. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Your spreadsheet was even more informational. I still have a rather sour taste in my mouth with how things ended and the only thing that could clear it up would be to see the scores and how they were arrived at.
I want to be clear the sour taste has nothing to do with feeling that there was cheating on the part of any contestant nor do I feel the judging done by the FS staff was unfair. I am hopeful that the next season will feature a revised method for public involvement (voting) that eliminates or minimizes the down-voting phenomena that was noted through the entire competition thus far. That one, very minor, part was the cause for much discussion and detracted from an overall very positive enjoyable experience. Flag this | Edit this post |

| with 62 people voting for me and numerous web links I thought I had done well to draw traffic and support. The most dissapointing aspect for me was that my rating fell from a leader of the pack 88.8 to a 4th place 85.6 with just six votes. That means the six votes I received at the end averaged 5.5. All this happened while I slept.
I think the suggestion someone else made of simply having a vote for and no numeric rating would help avoid the down voting issue that seemed to plague this competition. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Ogre:
Would be most interested in the stats you kept...
Good contest my friend. Keep in touch about your job and stuff... perhaps I can lend some advice that would help since you and I seem to have travelled similar roads. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You were... I really wonder if it had not been for the late voting if you would not have gotten one of the two spots. For most of this round I thought it was going to be You, CanadaDave or I that finished 1-2-3.
If there is a second season I certainly hope the "down voting" will be eliminated. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yes great finish everyone!
I kept watching you and I be neck and neck for the home stretch Dave... with you ahead at times and me at others. I simply ran out of people to ask. :-) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I certainly hope my voters aren't zombies. This round is the first round I really pushed to have people come vote -- I normally don't like to push -- and I had my parents, brother, wife, in-laws, guildmates, and friends from various forums voting this round. I too am amazed at how many people were willing to register in order to vote. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I agree Darrellwu -- I trust the editors. I really pushed to get friends and family to vote for me this round though and started as soon as the article was published. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | We all, apparently, had to deal with down-voting. I went from 88.8 (highest rating) to 85.6 and 4th highest rating in just six votes. CanadaDave was in second with 88 when I last looked and he fell all the way to 86.7 and second. You should be happy though you finished with the highest rating and went from either 4th or 5th highest rating to the highest in roughly five hours. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Amazing flucuation in the numbers.
Good luck to everyone.
Thanks again to the Firingsquad editors for holding the competition. Flag this | Edit this post |

| ...turns his head and looks over his shoulder to see CanadaDave sprinting hard...
...hurriedly sends emails out to everyone he knows at work...
This thing is tight. WOW!
I am stuck at home sick and can't run around asking people to vote in person too. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I still have some people saying that the passwords that were sent to them are not working. I have told them that the passwords are case-sensitive -- anything else I should tell them or that they can do? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yeah this AM (9ish) I had 92.1, Daug was right around there with a 91 something and Dave was at 90 something... so certainly an interesting pattern -- not that I charted it. Flag this | Edit this post |
