| » Yeah seriously I don't want to take Firingsquad out of my bookmarks, but you're not giving me a lot of choice here. @nd time recently. I don't want everyone at work listening to the Star Wars trailer while I scramble to figure out what tab the offensive autoplaying video belongs to... Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Ideally, a well programmed piece of software (and OS) will dynamically allocate threads based upon the number of CPU cores found at execution time. If someone was really trying to program different methods for one core, two cores, or four cores, that would be pretty terrible code. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Thoughts on the article Alan,
Memtest86 is old news buddy. Memtest86+ is where it's at (www.memtest.org).
Also, I highly recommend foregoing the OEMs drivers (like Gigabyte, etc) and going straight to the source (Intel for the Intel SATA/ACHI stuff, chipset drivers, etc). OEMs only update their drivers when they HAVE to. Intel, ATI, Nvidia, Via, etc will always have the up to date stuff (which generally works the best).
I've definitely noticed that the x64 builds I've done are much more stable than x86 builds involving Vista. Weird stuff going on during DVD/video encoding in x86 Vista is completely gone in x64 Vista. Sometimes Oblivion will do this thing where it hangs after you exit; not so in x64 (at least on my machine). You get the idea. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Never too old. I'm 29, and now a Junior in college with about 18 more classes in front of me. I've always struggled with school, even though I've always had a natural aptitude for math, computers, etc. I started college in 1998, did one semester and left, did another semester somewhere else...left. Worked in the real world until I went back again in 2002...finally got my Associates this past spring, and now I am at college #4 finishing my Computer Science degree. Now I finally have my head on straight and I feel like I can finally accomplish my goal. I know I will be in my 30s by then, but it will feel awesome I'm sure. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Ummm...I'd be a lot more terrified of someone trying to me cut off (aka, run over) with a thousand+ pound machine than being shot with a crossbow bolt.
I think if more motorists were equipped with crossbows, people would be apt to think twice about cutting other people off. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » The terrorists have already won. The US is becoming extremely lame, overly sensitive, and sue happy. I mean, more so than even before. I mean, the skit didn't even show the plane crashing, right?
Next time I am on a plane and I encounter turbulence (like Conan), I am asking for an apology from the airline for reminding me of a plane crash that had nothing to do with me. Flag this | Edit this post |
