| » DRM not a good thing I agree with mosts of the posts--DRM is not a good thing. The author seems to confuse DRM with anything that isn't a Star Trek replicator.
For instance, the author says that Linux wouldn't be as good as it is if it didn't have to compete against Windows. Probably false, but note that Windows (until well after Linux was established) didn't include any DRM.

| Nice work finding 20 PC games. Personally I'm looking forward to 7-9 (Bioshock, HL2-2, Stalker) the most.
I'm also hoping some good player-made NWN2 modules will come out. Who knows, maybe they will even fix the camera somehow. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I still doubt Dang's enthusiasm for HD and that the "HD revolution is real and it's here". I guess we'll have to wait another two years and see if everyone has Blu-ray/HDDVD combo players as he thinks. I'm sceptical. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yep, 2006 was a bad year for PC gaming. Oblivion might have been my favorite, but even that game was glaringly flawed at times. NWN2 was good too but very buggy and the camera problems just reminded me how much better BG2 was.
Here's hoping 2007 will be better. If not I'll break down and buy a console :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| Actually in theory scalpers add economic value by distributing the products efficiently. For instance, suppose person A has nothing better to do and needs extra money, and person B has money and really wants a PS3 but is too busy or can't stand the cold. A can get a PS3 and sell it to B and both are better off.
Of course, the gamers who also have lots of time on their hands lose out, but as a whole scalpers make things more efficient by preventing people with better things to do from wasting their time in line.
And I don't see why people think it makes it worse for gamers. Presumably whoever paid $15k or whatever for a PS3 must have been a hard-core gamer. Flag this | Edit this post |

| One reason I don't like any of the current cards is that they don't seem capable of running even the latest stuff at max speeds. For instance, in Firingsquad's last article, they say that a GeForce 7900GTX only averages 45 fps at Dark Messiah on high settings (see http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/dark_messiah_high-end/page4.asp).
So a $400 video card can only barely run a current game at max! I wonder how well it'll run a game released a year from now.
Hopefully the new generation of cards coming out soon will have more breathing room, since they won't be based on old architectures. Flag this | Edit this post |
