| Probably too much outside pressure.
It's like when you have kids and they really really want ice cream. They don't ever shut up about it and you eventually get them to be quite about wanting ice cream. But sooner or later it slips out and they really really really want ice cream again. You can't ever stop it no matter what you do. Eventually you will give the kids ice cream.
I think EA's situation is like this in that they are tired of the whining and this solution is the one most likely to make everyone shut up.
I'm going to go eat a Klondike bar now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I don't know if I believe that $6-$8 figure (where did you get this number from and does it apply to all titles); it seems a little low. If developers were making that little amount of money off of a title, I imagine many would have switched to digital distribution so as to maximize profits. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The Call of Duty franchise is not one of the biggest cultural phenomenons of all time. I'm pretty sure that title belongs to Mario. That character has done more to sell games and merchandise worldwide for Nintendo than Call of Duty ever has and ever will. Give it another half decade or so when Activision has squeezed the franchise dry and people will be saying "Call of Duty What?" Flag this | Edit this post |

| I wasn't trying to defend crappy missions but instead make a point that Dave Jones's broad comment about misconceptions and expectations is rather lame. I have a problem with communication at times and clearly getting my point across (I'm dreading having to start my masters thesis soon).
Here's another try in two simple sentences.
Missions are truly bland and uninspired.
Character/Vehicle customization is stellar and enjoyable.
Be thankful you didn't have to review the game. Though I'd think about buying this game, since I have friends playing, if it was bargain priced at ten dollars with a five dollar monthly subscription. Flag this | Edit this post |

| ""APB’s missions are more brazenly cheap than any ‘kill ten boars’ quest. Drive, get out, press F. Drive further, get out, press F some more.""
The reason for this is "misconceptions and huge expectations." In terms of missions, this game has nothing fun going for it; after you get past the 10ish mission types there is nothing left.
The customization is awesome though but not enough to make me buy the retail version of the game. Flag this | Edit this post |

| No matter what you say, some people will always be ignorant of the potential dangers until it affects them.
Those people need to a take a college course on lasers or a thorough safety course to understand the danger a class IV laser poses.
People will always put more weight on something that might affect their perceived right instead of their ignorance. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "The point is mute, the energy the laser puts out is still small enough that exposure to it indirectly isn't going to hurt your own eyes unless exposed for a longer period of time."
Show me the calculations you did that proves this. Include exposure times, MPE, and a NOHD. Assume pupil opening is 7mm and the laser is CW. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Because class IV lasers are very dangerous and can easily blind (when I say easily I mean very easily) people. Don't believe me, take a university class on lasers or a certified safety course on lasers. Better yet go find some of the pictures dealing with retinal damage and laser burns. You wouldn't care about it until it happened to you.
Would you enjoy it if David Banach or Balltazar Valladares both adults over 18 or anyone else shined this high powered laser and destroyed the retinas of the pilots of the aircraft you are on as it's landing? Or how about driving on a freeway and all of a sudden your vision starts to irreversibly deteriorate because the douchebag next to you decided he didn't like your driving and decided to shine a homemade/storebought 2 watt invisible infrared beam into your face.
These are not personal defense weapons, these are weapons that can easily fuck one of the things you don't want to lose in your life which is your sight. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "PC gamers will be glad to hear that dedicated servers will be supported, and the zombie mode from World at War will also make a return."
Treyarch isn't stupid like IF; they know what PC gamers want and expect from online games. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Why are you such a douchebag.
I can think of a few examples of instrumentation at my school that run off of win95 and XP; those same instruments don't like compatibility mode in vista or 7 either. The only solution is dual boot when the computers that run the instruments were replaced.
But you wouldn't think about things like that because your tiny little world revolves around the best graphics and stroking your epeen on this site with your computer specs. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "If you get disconnected while playing, you're booted out of the game. All your progress since the last checkpoint or savegame is lost, and your only options are to quit to Windows or wait until you're reconnected."
Sounds like an incredibly broke and unforgiving system of piracy checks. Flag this | Edit this post |
