| Man, it's getting harder and harder to justify owning a high performance car when so many bozos like that own them.
P.S.
I wish someone would do a mash-up of this vid and the one with the clueless newslady getting pawed by a CLEARLY pissed-off cat. They really convey the same message :). Flag this | Edit this post |

| Every movie buff with half a clue knows who Uwe is. I'm assuming the people in the movie industry know him as well. Yet still he gets a few decent actors to star in his cinematic abominations. I'm imagining a few of them weeping silently in the shower after a shoot trying to wash away the stink of a Uwe Boll movie from themselves. WTF is wrong with not only this but all of his pictures? I think it's money laundering. Or something like that :).
There's just no other sane reason for any investor to pump cash into Boll's "creations". I get that he might have been able to sell a few of his early turkeys to the uninformed masses, myself included, by adapting(read: buying and asraping) a few well known game licenses but now? One other thing. How uninformed or strapped for cash would you need to be as an actor to accept a role in one of his movies? I know people with far, far less paying jobs with more integrity. | Thanks for the preview.
Hm... After reading a lot of BC previews around the net I still can't bring myself to pick WoW up again. Having played it quite extensively for about a year and a half since it's EU release I was all played out. It's true that Blizz is doing something right, the amount of subscribers certainly proves that. I did like the social aspect of it, the feeling of a perfectly orchestrated 40 man raid is an awesome experience. Come to think of it, I don't think that I've ever been part of, or seen a group of 40 people in real life coming together and doing something really constructive (extreme home makeover doesn't count :).
That however was not the norm. After lvl60 the grind sets in and I don't see it being any different with BC after lvl70. If there's ever a WoW II or if they do something really different with it in a future expansion, I'll check it out again, but right now I got Vanguard on preorder and Hellgate, although not a pure MMORPG isn't that far off either. | The first one is ace, the second sucked harder than the vacuum behind Paris Hilton's epiglottis.
Would be nice though, if Verhoeven came back and made a proper sequel to the first one.
Or not. The book and the first movie are good enough not to be messed with. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I agree 100%. The word should not be used by anyone. Whoever uses it outside of maybe a historical reference just helps perpetuating the use of it, and as a society we really should erase that word (along with some other) from our collective vocabularies.
Also, someone being drunk or "in rage" doesn't mean shit to me. Unless you are certifiably mentally ill, you are always responsible for your actions. Flag this | Edit this post |

| 1938 Who Goes There? - novel, John W. Campbell
1951 The Thing From Another World - movie
1982 The Thing - movie
2002 The Thing - game
Both "Thing" movies are among my favorite movies of all time. Carpenters 1982 hit is a given classic that can't be improved upon with todays technology or acting talent. Maybe in a few decades when I got 3D oozing from a ceiling fan or something. If you liked Carpenters version, be sure to check out the 1951 version, it is a great flick and it's in glorius B/W. The game is I think one of the best movie-to-game productions ever, and as most Firingsquad readers know, that is not common. It's not perfect and it's a sequel/sidestep from the 1982 movie story, but as a fan of the story and movies I enjoyed plying thru it alot, it really manages to capture the mood of the movie(s).
A proper sequel to Carpenters Thing would be nice to see, or even a new story/movie about the "Thing" messing up someone elses back yard up, but not another goddamn "re-imagining" of any kind as there is nothing wrong with the 1982 version, or the 1951 for that matter. If you like good movies then you WILL like these two. If you think that Phantom Menace is an old movie and that black-and-white movies are icky, then I guess you are probably eagerly awaiting "proper" versions of Rio Bravo, The Searchers, North By Northwest and I think I've read somewhere that Ben Affleck and J-Lo were considering re-making Casablanca. Shivvers... Flag this | Edit this post |

| A quote from somewhere:
"What is WoW? WoW is something that sucks in your life and spits out lvl60 characters. (lvl70's soon)"
Having played it for a year and a half and having quit it a while back I completely concur. I do understand the nature of MMORPG's but dang! How can marihuana be illegal, when WoW isn't? I'm an ooooold gamer and I've been playing games since I got my mits on a Commodore64 back in BC640, and I've own pretty much all of the home game platforms since, including a few arcade machines. The year and a half when I played WoW is a blur though... Flag this | Edit this post |

| Definitely looks more like a reimaginigenegginegininge... of "The Crazies" then "Day...". And damnit, have people completely forgot how to make a horror flick without the most obvious clichéys in it? I mean, teenagers screwing, overconfident asshats delivering toenail-curlingly lame one liners like: -it's a bad day to be a zombie... Aw gawd...
I did like the new "Dawn..." it was a good movie, in the same way that Savini's "NotLD 1990" was a good movie - same story told from a different angle. Both needless movies, but good nonetheless, allthough the filming of "NotLD 1990" was more prompted by a copyright snafu of the original NotLD from 1968 then the need to make a better movie.
Still, the original G.A.R. DEAD trilogy rules supreme in this house. The "Land of the Dead" hasn't really sunk in yet :). Flag this | Edit this post |
