| | Kaosu's right. It doesn't matter what language you're speaking if you're trying to tell a hummingbird to bark or a dog to fly backwards. However, it does speak ill of the Intel spokesperson to trash CUDA so much when it's already shown so much massive improvement in performance for media encoding and photo manipulation. No one solution is going to be the end-all. That, and I'll have to wonder what the price difference will be for the end solutions. Flag this | Edit this post |

| try reading the announcement again, specifically the FIRST LINE: "Activision, Inc. and Treyarch".
The standard fare: Infinity Ward manages to build both a great game AND a great game engine, which Activision then farms out to Treyarch to re-hash in not-so-great filler sequels (CoD3) while I.W. goes to work on the next great game & engine. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Well, the good AND bad news is that half the game wasn't ready when it went live. Most of the economy, player crafting, and pvp value hadn't been implemented yet. However, they've seemed so far to put a lot of effort into actually listening to their players for game improvements, and I've yet to have to sit for 2 hours in a log-in queue like I did around WoW's launch (and patch dates for about 6 months) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Wow, anonymous AND an idiot, who'd have thought it possible? No, the typical liberal response would be "oh no, houses are too cheap, the government should step in and fix everything!" The concept of naturally occurring cycles (in much of anything) is not something espoused by most "liberal" agendas. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | yeah, the Rage Fury era was the beginning of my full-on hate-fest with ATi. Had a customer who could never get it to work during the Win2k transition, and the best ATi would do for him was offer him an all-in-wonder card that was worth $100 less and half as fast. Things have improved, but yeah, the Fury Maxx left a few scars on their reputation for a while. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Very cool game... the pvp isn't quite as prone to asshatery as the beta appeared to preditct. My friends and I tend not to attack anybody more than a level or two below us, preferring to take bigger challenges, though there are still some losers who will sit at spawn points and gank you until you leave the zone or they get bored. However, coming back with help and cutting off their heads is quite rewarding. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | You little whipper-snappers don' know nuthin 'bout GTA... all this "three dimensions" flibberty gabber and whizbang gidgetygadgeroo... if you want good ol' fashioned cartoon violence, get a DOS box and load up the original GTA. Top-down sprite-animated no-plot killing at it's finest. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The PvP is fun, as far as the system goes. The open PvP servers are a bit nuts, since it's free-for-all, meaning EVERY person you see in the questing areas is potentially going to kill you. Imagine playing WoW, except you're the only Horde on the server, and everybody else is Alliance. You pretty much HAVE to get into a guild ASAP just to avoid dying every 30 seconds when you leave town.
The PvE servers aren't total carebear, though, there are still open PvP areas, border kingdoms between the 3 cultures, and player-owned (and built) cities that can be seiged, as well as Battlegrounds-ish PvP minigames that keep it fun. They only have 1 Cultural PvP server, which is sorta like WoW's factions, except with 3 factions instead of 2. I haven't played on that one yet, so not sure how much better/worse it is than the open PvP servers.
Overall, very cool game, just know what you're getting into if you go into ffa PVP. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | not everything has to be in L.A. I personally couldn't stand living there. It's understandable that publishers want their "home run hitters" close to home, but the cost of living is triple that of the same standards in much of the rest of the country. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I did really enjoy the first game, at least until I got to the "end", just to find out that I had gotten the "bad" ending which sucked, and didn't have a recent enough save game in a good enough position to even survive through the ordeal to get to the "good" ending... and was not gonna go through the whole thing again. | My problem with Doom3 was that the whole "scary" atmosphere was based on hundreds of hidden broom closets with monsters waiting for you to walk past so they could pop out behind you.
I mean c'mon, how many hidden broom closets does a scientific research station need? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | And it's all because of a complete lack of product quality control leading to consumer avoidance. Then again, if Atari had gained half a clue what power it had taken hold of before the 80's crash and acted accordingly, who knows what it may have become before Nintendo ever showed up. | If he comes out of retirement, then gets sidelined by injury...
Then again, maybe it's the players' effort to avoid the curse by using big-name retired players.
Of course, if he isn't playing, he could always slip off his rocker and sprain an ankle and I guess that would still count. Flag this | Edit this post |
