I have a 61" HDTV, and the difference between 480p and 720p widescreen is enough that I re-started playing some of my old XBox titles on the 360 just to get the upscan, even games I was halfway through and and had to start over. I can understand not requiring HD from your developers, but consider the fact that by half-way through this console generation, any cross-platform game on the Wii will look like warmed-over crap compared to either the 360 or the PS3 when viewed on even the cheapest HDTV set.
