| | Well, I wasn't in the beta, but I've dabbled enough with MMO's (Guild Wars, WoW, AC) to know that this game was INCREDIBLY weak. I even tried to keep the fact that I've played Pen & Paper D&D for the last 20 years (Damn! I'm old.) out of my judgement. However, Maelphaedor said everything I thought about the game within the first 2 hours. Disappointment didn't even come close to describing my reaction. It's really just sad. They won't be getting another penny from me anytime in the foreseeable future. Flag this | Edit this post |

| If I just had money to throw around, I'd buy one just so I could see the spectacular graphics for myself. One has to wonder though, what about avaliable connections to TV\stereo equipment\etc. I mean, it takes a basic level of skill simply to use an older composite connection TV as a display, let alone hooking up a sound system\home theater. Also, the information regarding pre-orders and payment was worth noting.
"* The EVO: Phase One System will have console like features upon future upgrade applications and hardware assistance."
"Your credit card may be charged up to 10 days before the EVO launch date for the remaining balance. A shipping fee of $14.95 will added to the suggested retail price on any pre orders after January 1, 2006. This system is a hybrid media center PC hub. The service and repair will be covered under PC equipment."
Seems like a bit of a scam to me. Not to mention, did any of you actually check out his myspace profile? WTF? That looks VERy professional indeed.

| | I believe the biggest problem with their company is their software, and the biggest problem with their software is... their software. It's pure shit. In fact, just yesterday I was trying to figure out why my girlfriend's system was not letting her play Pogo.com Spades through AOL all of a sudden. Mind you, I've worked with computers and networking for about 11 years now, and it made no sense. Long story short, I decided to just fork over the $35 for a years subscription to Pogo for her so I could stop dicking with their shitty software. I fucking hate AOL. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Jagged Alliance 2?!? Man, that game is the shit! Although, I don't think I've ever been more irritated by repetitive voice overs. Grunty alone was enough to drive me over the edge. And Fidel? The crazy arab "explosives expert?" Hehehe... priceless.

| First of all, I'd just like to say that I didn't care for Diablo and I won't be buying this game. However, I felt compelled to reply to this thread because I just simply cannot believe that you're holding off on doing a review on this game because a patch is supposedly coming out "in the near future" that will possibly make the game playable.
I've been coming to this site for the better part of 7 years, and this is the first time I've really felt let down by a staff member. Now, I can't say with certainty what your motivation for holding off on the review is, but to me, your explanation sounded like it was coming from someone that so badly wants to like the game that he is willing to happily skip past one of the primary tenets of a review. Performance and system stability are two things that I look at when reading an honest review of a game. I certainly don't recall anyone giving any passes to Daikatana when it was released.
Again, if the game is unplayable in its current state, and you're a fan that doesn't mind having to download a patch immediately upon install, then I say your position on "wait and see" is just fine. However, the reality is, you might be a fan, but more importantly, you've been tasked by your readers at Firingsquad to accurately deliver a review, not excuses. I believe I understand why you're waiting, but I don't believe it makes waiting right. If the QA department can't get the bugs out of a top tier title before release, then I say let the publisher fork over the cash to CONVINCE the customer their shit is fixed AFTER all the bad reviews.
Just my two disappointed cents. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Eh... I'm kinda on the fence. The game sounds original and exciting, but from the screenshots,... I just can't get into the Doom3 engine. I mean, I own and have played both Doom3 and Q4, but the egine just makes everything look too damn shiny for my tastes. I'm not sure if that's the normal mapping, bump mapping, or whatever kind of mapping, but most people that I know don't have shiny polyester skin. And while the engine is great at lighting, I guess I just wish they would have gone Source or Unreal. I'll still buy it and probably enjoy it though. ;-) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Those dirty, rat-bastard, hypocritical, bible-banging, self-righteous, zealous motherfuckers!! Don't fix what isn't broken. Why don't they start bringing the parents who are complaining into the hearing and grilling them as to why they were letting poor, innocent, little Johnny play the fucking game in the first place? I'll tell you why. Because it's a lot easier, and better for the political base, to be seen persecuting that which you don't understand than it is to hold the real problem responsible. Fuck you Fred Upton! Fuck you congress, you out of touch, high and mighty pricks! And fuck you whiny parents who can't be bothered to monitor what your kids do! Stay the fuck away from my hobby. | | Other than a desire to push some new-fangled, unsupported hardware, what is the point of this? I never understood why they don't just offload the physics processing directly to the second core of a processor if it's avaliable. Because it seems to me a LOT more people have adopted dual core CPUs as opposed to those that have, or are likely to buy another expansion card. I mean seriously, an SLI setup with an Audigy4 or X-Fi and most mainboards are out of room for expansion. And those high end users already pushed for space and heat will be the ones most likely to upgrade with another expansion card in the first place. Just doesn't make sense.
