| Hmm. When I walk into Target, Walmart, EBgames, etc I see Xbox 360s, Nintendo Wiis, and just a PS3 kiosk with no consoles available.
3 weeks to ship out 800,000 units? Good luck. I agree with ripfire, we're done with our Christmas shopping. Flag this | Edit this post |

| But when the Xbox 360 first came out, there was no "next generation" competition. The 360 was competing with the PS2 and the Gamecube. Even with it's bugs and shortages, the 360 was still the only "next gen" choice.
The PS3 and the Wii are launching with competition that has a year head start. The PS3 had an extra year to develop and improve on what the 360 has to offer but they didn't really suceed. Flag this | Edit this post |

| In reality, there are only 2 real console options this holiday season. The PS3 is not available in stores right now so they are out.
So, people are left to choose between the Wii or the 360, or both. Sony blew their chances at this holiday season with limited supply. Of course I'm not even considering the $600.00 price tag.
Nintendo and Microsoft have cosoles at a lower price, a good supply, and numerous games. And microsoft is now offering bundles without adding to their cost, and their games are now on sale. And, you can buy used 360 games. Of course Microsoft is going to sell well now.
Nintendo is their true competition at this time and they are targeting a different crowd. I would take a Wii and a 360 together over 1 PS3. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Only time will tell what will happen with Sony. Based on their current consoles, it seems like Nintendo looked at what will be good for the consumer (fun gameplay) while Sony looked at what will be good for their pockets (expensive technology).
Nintendo went back to what made them a strong company: a console that is easy to use, reasonably priced, and has fun games. That's a recipe for success in my book.
Sony has a lot on it's plate: games, blu-ray, home electronics, and movies. Jack of all trade, but master of none? Flag this | Edit this post |

| There were more sales of Zelda then there were PS3s.
Those are good numbers for Nintendo. It shows that people are buying their console AND buying games to play.
On the other hand, the PS3 is being bought as a quick moneymaker, not for playing games or even watching movies for that matter (generally speaking). Flag this | Edit this post |

| Of course Sony will still insist that they sent 400,000 units. Sony just keeps getting bad publicity and it's not like people are just making this stuff up.
The real question is whether Sony even had 400,000 units to send and if they intentionally delayed shipping some. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Violence, robberies, injuries, and outrageous prices on ebay. Nice launch Sony! These are the headlines we see.
Not, "What a great console", "Well worth the $600.00", "Great looking games".
Now, take a look at the Nintendo launch and learn. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Ken Kutaragi, the head of Sony's game unit known as the "father of the PlayStation," said he was thrilled by the reception to the PS3.
"I am so happy so many people are waiting," he said in an informal countdown ceremony at Bic Camera. "Thank you for waiting from late last night. Please enjoy next-generation entertainment."
Only five games were on sale for the PS3's Japan launch date.
Nice! Limited console supply, expensive units, and only 5 games. Great start Sony. Sit back and let Nintendo show you how to introduce a new console: Good supply, lower price, and more than 5 games. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I can't imagine calling in "sick" for a week. Maybe if I was a hamburger technition at McDonald's I could get away with it.
Plus, we don't even know if the PS3 hardware will be any good. It could have serious (or even minor) bugs that need to be worked out. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Let me begin by saying that I play all kinds of video games... violent and nonviolent.
That out of the way, I think that violent games can cause some aggressive behavior in children. Not all children and not all will go on a killing spree, but there is an influence. How much? I don't know.
But...parental care/control plays a big part. Music plays a part. Friends play a part. So do movies and tv.
ALL influences need to be considered, not just one. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So, does that mean that a Japanese PS3 can't be sold outside of Japan? Can I sell an American PS3 to Europe? WTF. If I buy a Japanese PS3 am I allowed to have it in Europe. What's next...Sony not letting people sell used Sony products on ebay??? Flag this | Edit this post |

| I tried to post this in the hardware review section but the link wasn't working:
Hardware review for the Logitech G7 cordless mouse
by RocketV8 (10-20-2006)
-Nice black carbon look
-Comfortable shape/design
-Good battery life
-Ability to change sensitivity on the mouse itself
-Battery life indicator
Cons:
-Touch battery latch
-A bit pricey (about $65.00)
Ok, do you really need a cordless laser mouse?
I didn't think so but when I was able to get the Logitech G7 cordless laser mouse for about $42.00 I bit the bullet and bought one.
The first thing you notice is that the mouse feels good in your hand. It is comfortable and fit into you hand nicely. It should be noted that the G7 is only designed for right handers.
After installing the software and connecting the mouse, I was shocked to see how much fine tuning you can do with the sensitivity. You can preset 5 different sensitivity settings for different games or applications. Changing from one preset to another is easy with the 2 buttons located behind the scroll wheel.
Some reviews said that the battery life was a bit poor. I can use the mouse for about 4-6 hours for about 3-4 days before I need to switch batteries. Battery life is indicated on the mouse itself so you never have to guess when the battery may die. Also, the Logitech software will throw up a pop up window to let you know when battery life is low (if you have it enabled).
The G7 comes with 2 batteries so you always have a charged one ready. My only complaint with this mouse is that the battery latch is a bit touchy. Sometimes I need to reload the battery before the latch catches. Not a big issue, but down the line it may become a bigger problem.
The G7 glides on 3 large teflon pads. I am currently looking for the best mousepad to use. Moving the mouse is easy although this mouse weights a little bit more since it is cordless. Takes a bit to get used to but its a minor adjustment to make.
As far as gaming goes, being able to fine tune the adjustments for each game is a great feature. I have not spent a lot of time doing so but its nice to know that I have that option. My scores have not changed, but my hand is less tired after playing for a while.
Overall this mouse is a worthy investment. The battery latch was my only issue. The latch could have been designed a bit better but overall, a small problem in comparision to the numerous positives. Flag this | Edit this post |

| As a special ed teacher, I have seen it all...
*The Poopie List*
GHOST POOPIE: The kind where you feel the poopie come out, but there is no poopie in the toilet.
CLEAN POOPIE: The kind where you poopie it out, see it in the toilet, but there is nothing on the toilet paper.
WET POOPIE: The kind where you wipe your butt 50 times and it still feels unwiped, so you have to put some toilet paper between your butt and your underwear so you won't ruin them with stains.
SECOND WAVE POOPIE: This happens when you're done poopie-ing and you've pulled your pants up to your knees, and you realize that you have to poopie some more.
POP-A VEIN-IN-YOUR-FOREHEAD POOPIE: The kind where you strain so much to get it out, you practically have a stroke.
LINCOLN LOG POOPIE: The kind of poopie that is so huge you're afraid to flush without first breaking it into little pieces with the toilet brush.
GASSY POOPIE: It's so noisy, that everyone within earshot is giggling.
DRINKER'S POOPIE: The kind of poopie you have the morning after a long night of drinking. It's most noticeable trait is the skid marks on the bottom of the toilet.
CORN POOPIE: Self explanatory.
GEE-I-WISH-I-COULD-POOPIE POOPIE: The kind where you want to poopie but all you do is sit on the toilet and fart a few times.
SPINAL TAP POOPIE: That's where it hurts so badly coming out, you'd swear it was leaving you sideways.
WET CHEEKS POOPIE (The Power Dump): The kind that comes out so fast, your butt cheeks get splashed with water.
THE DANGLING POOPIE: This poopie refuses to drop in the toilet even though you are done poopie-ing it. You just hope that a shake or two will cut it loose.
THE SURPRISE POOPIE: You're not even at the toilet because you are sure you are about to fart, but *oops* --- a poopie! Flag this | Edit this post |

| I though game developers were supposed to collect player data during the beta stage? Then they can fine tune the game before it winds up on the shelves.
Or just bypass the fine tuning stage and release a patch the same day the game is released like EA just did. Flag this | Edit this post |
