| | My buying order is PC > PS3 > XBOX360, which means that I only buy about 1 maybe 2 xbox games a year. PC is cheaper and offers better quality most of the time over console, but if I feel that the game has been "consoled" I may go for the PS3 version instead. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yeah, nextgen games will probably be 20-50GB, and closer to 50GB I think. So if the consoles come with 1TB drive you can have about 20 games installed or you need to buy a extra hard drive.
Not only that but a 50GB download would take about 2.5 days on my Internet connection (2Mb) and would just about finish my monthly download limit. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That was a real stretch to get 7. Nr 3 and 4 are irrelevant to hardcore gamers (and 7 is a joke), but if you don't know anything about computers I can see how it may help. As for nr 5, it is stated above DX11 is not exclusive to Win7. Only thing that is left is 1,2 (they speek for themsselfs providing it's true) and 6. Over all I think I have about 200 games counting back 24 years.
Well looking at my older non-violent games in my collection that I liked, I see SimCity 2000 and Transport Tycoon on the PC and Sonic* (and a few other platform games on Genesis.
*(strictly speaking there is violence in Sonic just not on the same level as e.g. Ninja Gaiden)
Almost all off my games fall into the following genre. FPS, Shot-em-up, hack-and-slash, beat-em-up (e.g. Ninja Gaiden) , fighting (e.g. Soul Calibur) and few racing games and strategy games (WC2/CIV4) and puzzel games (echochrome/Puzzle Quest)
So the genre that I am missing are sport and RPG and adventure (well I have almost all the Prince of Persia games but they are a cross genre with beat-em-up, funny thing is that the beat-em-up element of the PoP series I find lame compared to God of War which it seems to try to emulate, it is really the puzzle part that I fight interesting)
So..., to finally answer your question I think that game makers, in general, include violence on some level as a integral part of the game design and have done so in the past; some on low level like Sonic (old school, cant stand the 3d games), which without it would just be about running really fast collecting rings without any sense of danger and therefore excitement. Other games rely on it as main feature like shoot-em-up and beat-em-up.
Violent games in general rely on some sort
of skill, be it reflexes, accuracy, fast-fingers/fast-thinking, strategy and reward practice.
So it is really hard to find games that are totally non-violent, unless you go for games made for specifically 2-5 year olds or girls, like Nintendo does.
However gory games are a different thing, as I find games today much more gory then in the old days, but that might just be because of increased graphic power. Games like Rise of the Triad (brains flying when blowing up bad guys) and Mortal Kombat really pushed the envelope back about 15 years ago. I think the reason for increased gore in games is because it sells and not because it makes the games better, e.g. MK vs SF. With that in mind, why not make a good game and also include gore and make even more money, by appealing to crowds that would maybe otherwise dismiss it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yeah, I think so too. If the steak is good, I like it as pure as possible. It's same with games, skip all the extras if you have a quality game and don't spoil it by throwing in gimmicks such as violence.
Then again I am hard pressed to find a non violent game that I liked (except for puzzle games), as the last sport game I played and liked was NBA JAM and even that has violence in it. And as for racing games, Need for Speed and Burnout games are pretty violent games, at least the way I play them :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | This is a double edged sword, if they can do it it would not split the community up as much, but at the same time it would make them look like they where exaggerating the huge leap that L4D2 is supposedly over L4D and maybe they could have made it into a DLC or a Expansion pack for L4D.
