| | They just show whats possible not that it is necessary to have that much data. So lets assume a game would be using 100 GB instead of 10 to 20. Starting it from an SSD might make it possible to load data fast enough. Now it would depend on how much CPU and GPU power and RAM it would need. But I do not think that downsizing it to actual systems would be much of a problem. The advantages would obviously be worth while. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The possibility to sell items for real money will indeed lure chinese farmers. Just they would be there anyways and Blizzard wants a piece of the sold items, thats why they are going that way. That does not mean that I´d approve.
I´m pretty sure there will be "patches" to help sologamers to play offline again. Such limitations never have caused restrictions for long ;)
I´ll avoid both AH´s because when I buy all the things I want, why would I continue playing? Thus selling some gear for ingame gold makes no sense as well. Ingame gold will pretty much be useless ingame (except for the AH) which is kinda an anachronism.
The competition could lower the prices on the real-money-AH significantly making it hard to make it worth a while for none Asians :p Flag this | Edit this post |

| I have been playing a previous version of the beta already and I found it really nice. It feels like WoW since all the button functions are copied 1:1 but within a different environment.
The water is like 1000times prettier than in wow. (1920 x 1200 on ultra settings. I once put it on ultra and then I manually put every slider on maximum, since ultra doesnt do it and I gotta say that it ran smootly on my Core i7-2600k with GTX580 and 8 GB RAM)
The rift events can be nice but also annoying if you dont want to join the event it can be that it is blocking your quest npc´s until the rift event is finished (lost or won, one way or the other).
We have to see how it turns out in terms of instances and raiding. I have not had the chance to join to an instance yet. It´s like in the early WoW days... ppl spamming channels for healer/tank to goto instances. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The monthly fee that wow costs would roughly buy you 2 drinks when you are going out.
1200 USD might sound much but it is not for 6 years. Thats the amount I´m spending on my PC roughly every two years and I dont mind because I want it fast and fluid in 1920 x 1200. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I cant answer directly so I´m doing it that way.
You are free to belive anything but hype doesnt keep a game alive whether you belive it or not. Many mmorpg´s who came before and after WoW couldnt hold theyr customers even though hype and a good start. So clearly WoW does something right. It´s the mmorpg with the most active playing women, which is interesting too.
Ofc every success comes with critics and everyone thinks he´s a critic :P
Most ppl who criticise WoW did never play it or just play it for a short time (basic gameplay). So basicly they dont know enough about it and what they saw they didnt like. They never saw endgame or highend etc.
While I got really bored with WoW because it´s getting repetitive way too fast lately no other MMORPG could hold me more than a few weeks. I tried WAR, Lotr, EVE, STO, RoM, and some more and thinking about going back to WoW for at least a bit casual play.
Every single mmorpg I tried was lacking a propper group menu (LFG) or other things I got used to and couldnt stand missing. I belive thats why many are trying other games but are returning because even though it is not perfect it´s far closer to being perfect as any other mmorpg. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I had times where I exceeded this figure but I never forgot to drink something.
Not thinking about eating while gaming was one of the upsides for me back then :)
Atm I´m not even managing to play like 2 hours a week. Every game bores me to death atm. Flag this | Edit this post |

| yea its successfull despite its shittyness :P
Grow up... no bad game is ever THAT successful. That should tell you that your taste isnt that good and your opinion about that matter is not worth to being shared ;)
There are more good games out there who are NOT successful despite being genious than the other way around ;)
And about LotR below. I played it... it´s as boring as WoW is to me now, just that it has major problems with getting groups together. Some games learn, some dont... and LotR certainly didnt learn anything... they just are throwing addons in but they are not improving the group experience...
The need to be spamming channels to find groups is sooo ancient ;) Flag this | Edit this post |

| A Mac cant be having better hardware because it´s using mostly the same Hardware that is used in casual PC´s. Just for at least double the price. The only difference is the OS.
According to theyr sales it can not be that good because really good things are selling really well. Just the Mac doesnt.
The switch to Intel CPU´s just proved that the Mac is just a PC with a brand name. And that is what you are buying with a Mac, the name. It causes 50 % of the costs of a Mac.
Better software? Well the only thing I know for sure is that games are arriving months to years later (except for Blizzard Games) on the Mac. I can not see an advantage with that. By the time games are adapted to the Mac they are basicly old news. Which is proven by reading the "Half Life 2 episodes for Mac" news :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| That coming from Bioware who´s changing an RPG to an MMO just to being able to charge monthly fees :P
WoW for instance has a huge story line and many small ones just noone cared to read because everyone was just busy to rush to the max lvl ;) Flag this | Edit this post |

| Everything we are doing nowadays is tagged "addictive".
It is insane how many ppl are addicted to
- work
- they´r hobby (you name it)
- TV, Internet etc.
I belive it is about the media needing headlines and due to the lack of them they are creating "addiction headlines". So called "experts" are doing everything to support that hype. Because what else would they be talking about ;)
Be honest... no American will be dying due to missing the one or the other meal considering 90 % of them are way too fat anyways ;)
VS dehydration it helps to be having a bottle of mineral water close to the table ;)
And btw... I did cocaine and cant imagine how you can get addicted to that crap. The only thing that it did was giving me a headache on the next day. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Not a smart idea. The problem might be that trials will be finishing the content within the trial periond :p
I bought it, played it, dumped it all that within 2 weeks.... because then the content was over and the content that followed like four weeks after STO got officially released was just like a drop of water on a hot stone.
And yea, every game should have a demo/trial. Those who dont have are mostly crap games which would be obvious within a demo already and thats why they dont get one in the first place.
Thats why a trial wont be helping STO. It starts nice, you get a Startrek feeling but it vanishes fast... starting with the ugly sector space followed by a joke of a crafting system and crushed by too heavy instancing which does give you the real feeling of vast space but no MMO feeling at all. | I dont get why so many 3D-benches and games are having problems with line dislocation. I´m having v-sync on (because of the TFT-Display) and that benchmark still displays line dislocations and they are ugly to look at!
I got an average of 31 fps with an Radeon 5870. Does someone have GF480 figures? Flag this | Edit this post |

| Almost every game seems to be becoming an mmo lately and the only reason for that is that they want
for one
...customers to pay on a regular monthly basis.
secondly
...customers to be having no possibility to resell theyr copy of the game since it´s code will be bound to the account.
I am refusing to join in in supporting that system. Flag this | Edit this post |

| considering that I saw DX11 screeners looking even worse than DX10 already I dont really care much.
And about the price... ATI will just lower the price on it´s cards. I got mine for 350 about 5 months ago and I found it to be a good price compared to the 500+ the previous cards cost me. Flag this | Edit this post |

| It´s always the same... them telling that RAM´s getting more expensive, everyone´s running for it as long as it is supposedly cheap and then it´s getting even way more cheap.
Thats why I dont have much trust into such "news" anymore tbh. Flag this | Edit this post |
