| | Costco is selling their Sony and Samsung models for $299.99 and 279.99 (respectively). The people who are "cutting back" because of the economy are probably not the people who are going to buy an HD player (HD-DVD or BluRay). they'll settle for a 89.99 upconversion one instead. | think of it from the developers point of view, a delay is a good thing to them, they have more time to "spoil their baby" so to speak. Now, from a publishers point of view, its the second worst thing that can happen (first of course being a cancellation).
I personally think after all the great FPS titles that came out between Aug and Sept, Free Radical needed to take a step back and determine how their title stood out amongst the rest of the pack. It didn't, so they're delaying it until it will. just my theory. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | maybe if you said a different studio then Disney I might have believed you. But Disney? please, they're so in love with Blu-Ray they will be the last company to jump ship, try again Yoshi. You seem to be grasping at straws right now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | How do you know they'll continue to produce HD-DVD movies that they've already released, I didn't read anything that said that in the press release? The way I took it was, after May 2008 WB will cease production of HD_DVD entirely. Again I didn't read those exact words, thats just what it sounded like to me. do you have another source? | exactly, I'm not sure who to blame though. Did it happen when they went over to MS (so is MS to blame?), or is it entirely Rares fault?
I personally think Nintendo was a huge factor in the success of Rare, I'm not sure how much Nintendo had in the development process of the games, like Donkey Kong and other Nintendo mascot games rare developed for them, but it took a dramatic turn for the worse when they moved to MS. | | I agree, but what's EA known for, the "quick cash-ins" or great worthy sequels? they mostly have a reputation for the cash-ins. Bioware say that they have independence but we won't know tell their future games come out. I'm going to take the cautious route for now, but hopefully it will change. Flag this | Edit this post |
