| | World of Warcraft was big, but really became huge around burning crusades era. Most people who play the game today never did the older raids and many people who have complain the new raids are too easy or uninspired. I am pretty sure many enjoy going back to their old playground, and new blood will definitely enjoy doing raids they probably never done before. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I didn't get the original MW because it just didn't completely appeal to me. The demo was ok, online looked ok but it just wasn't my cup. MW2 looks to have a more exciting singleplayer campaign but for a 7 hour campaign I am better off renting it off of gamefly for the 360 and returning it after an overnight session.
I didn't like matchmaking on the consoles, I won't like it on the PC so in reality I have even less of a reason to buy it. I am not going to lie the hype around it inspired me but the past month or two changed it from a maybe to a definately not.
There are plenty of good games out there to occupy my time and money, Activision games will still be printing money without me handing over mines anyway. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The game is not neccesarily difficult but unless you properly set up your tactics for every specific encounter you can be boned pretty badly. Certain ambush situations leave you almost vastly outnumbered and unable to have any cover. It is more than possible to win these fights of course but if your AI does something stupid you can pretty much call it a done deal. There were often times when my AI would do things I didn't even program them to do(nor did I direct them) like wynne decided to join the front line fighters for no real reason. Luckily she didn't take aggro but I have had some wierd situations. Sometimes their AI gets stuck(not on anything just halted completely) and they just stand there needing to be ordered.
Personally I hate the tactics system, the game screams to be turn based, not real time. I find that without Morrigan/Wynne on Normal difficulty as a warrior the game would be a little too hard. I know some people have figured out the tricks, like someone being able to do nightmare mode with 3 warrior's. Regardless I am more a micromanage player anyway, which gets me through every tough encounter. I never found myself running out of pots, more than enough materials to make more always.
As for archers since I built myself as a tank, my first spec point is templar. There is a toggle that makes missle and ranged attacks do near no damage to me. Not so much damage that can't be healed off by my main healer. Completely shuts them down while my rogue, mage and healer range kill them all. There are definately different ways to conquer certain situations. As for fighting mages on an open field which do much more damage, my templar skills come into play. In melee combat there are more toggles and heavy armor bonus.
I have been enjoying the game, but have to agree on most of his points. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Having an additional feature never hurts. Some people are just not gamers but enjoy playing the game when it is up to their level of skill. If you want to use it you can, if you hate it or are the elitist type then just ignore it. Your fun is not ruined and someone else might in turn enjoy the game even more without getting frustrated. | They need to up the sound capabilities of the PSP unit to match their higher end music players. Then it will beat the ipod hands down, audiophile gamers would be all over it ;)
$250 for an inferior screensize, no UMD capability and no possible battery expansion is a rip off. PSP-3000 would and will always be the better value vs the PSPgo. Only thing the PSPgo has in its favor is size of the actual unit but that in itself is not worth the extra cash. That and public stating the PSPgo is cheaper to produce but is still more expensive than its higher manufacturing cost sibling was a bone headed decision. Still people ignorant to the whole schema of PSP would more than likely go with the sleeker GO expecting it to be the defacto PSP when in reality it is slightly downgraded and far more expensive. | It has near the same amount of content as Halo 3, that and its Halo 3 so of course they are going to milk it.
Being an old school PC gamer part of me says it does not make sense but that same side of me doesn't like the idea of silly DLC and expansions that dont really "expand". That being said from a logical point of view, if they are making a full blown experience then why not? Especially if you don't need to own Halo 3.
Halo is not my thing so it will be skipped, can't say the same thing about that gears 2 mini expansion though. I skipped out on the multiplayer maps, and getting a new campaign act is drool worthy enough for me especially for 20 bones. Flag this | Edit this post |

| That is like the government mandating that GM provide consumers alternatives, like the ability to put say a Mitsubishi engine rather than GM's own engine when purchasing their car.
Most people don't know of IE alternatives, and guess what they are perfectly ok with checking their e-mail and logging into facebook with IE8 Flag this | Edit this post |

| Its not that its hard, its complicated and from a developers perspective I can understand. To simplify it, you have to control flow of your program to work around multiple cores, and they all need to work in tandem and to the order you need them to. Now imagine complicating things a little further, add a few more cores but these cores can only do a specific task and you run into another layer of complexity.
The cell Proccessor itself is a hard CPU to program for if you want to take advantage of it for something as complicated as game. And really nothing is as complicated as game software imo. Emphasis on complicated, not on hard or requiring the most knowledge or skill. Flag this | Edit this post |

| scrapping the original 360/PS3 game and making a ground up game built and made for the wii as well as being different from its parent game would more than liekly be a game worth playing. Especially if they put as much emphasis into making it as they did the 360/PS3 version.
On the other hand, Wii games catored to the core demigraph don't sell as well as 1st party, or bargain bin casual games. The Wii, like the PSP is terribly easy to pirate for which more than likely cuts into some core sales.
When it comes to core gameplay mechanics though most things done ont he PS3/360 can be done on the wii. As a graphics capable machine, I have seen some games that look excellent on the platform. A game like M etroid Prime 3 had very clean textures, and looks better than some 360 games imo. Especially on a good TV which upscales. Flag this | Edit this post |

| agreed, which is why they make loads of cash. Even itunes is built around this ideology, if one day a better player comes out and trumps the iPod/Phone guess what all those MP3's you bought will not work on any other player.
Of course more advanced users can easily circumvent any DRM but most people barely know how to breath let alone convert a music file. It is these less savvy people that will be stuck with apple till the day they die ;) Customer for life!!!
Granted their music players are not all that bad, and their sound quality decent. Problem is you can get a Sansa Fuze which sounds better and has expandable memory. Works better with an amp as well. As for their computers, waste of money. Generally overpriced computers, then again I guess you can say many PC's are overpriced as well but you could more then likely get an equivalently equipped PC for far less. Their OS is not as godly as most who know little to nothing at all make you want to believe. It can do all the basics very well, so can Linux and Windows. Especially considering under the apple OS lies well unix. Nothing is virus or hack free, they just levitate torwards the market that can be hurt the most or with the most users which happen to be PC's.
What is godly about apple? Their amazing monitors. I am happy with my 2408WFP though ;) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | agreed, the actual transition spaces have harsh divides even if it is more fluid than having a bezel. Even for work its easier to use multiple screens with bezels, easier to maximize on one screen then manually resize. Can also program with one screen and have a design document open in portrait mode on the other. Flag this | Edit this post |

| wow they dumbed down the non-physx version by ALOT. Alot of those effects could of easily had been handled in the non-physx version.
There are some things there that are indeed more advanced but much of the basic stuff like squirting realistic looking water at the very least could of been done much better Flag this | Edit this post |

| that is horrible, though there is definately a limitation to the current infrastructure. Don't quote me since I don't know much about the technology but the fiber optics verizon currently uses might offer far more bandwith for this stage of internet usage. Cable companies are using either coaxial or fiber coaxial hybrids.
Though if this tiered internet thing becomes large you can bet even when the bandwith is available internet companies will misuse it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| it would probably mark the end to more adventurous projects as well(not small games like flower on PSN). Part of the ecosystem is making money on games your done with and buying a new one. Not everyone buys used all the time, I got resistance used and ended up enjoying it enough to get Resistance 2 on release.
As for rating systems, given places like Steam, LIVE, PSN. The parental controls should be built into that kind of system. Thus if you try to buy an M rated game for example with Teen controls on the client it wont let you, rather it won't even show you M rated games at all when you search. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I like the mix amp, it looks really awesome. For one since my tv lacks a headphone out it would make using headphones viable~ And the fact that it is an external tool to mimic 5.1 in your head is nice as well, for my PC it would compliment my x-fi prelude well. Flag this | Edit this post |

On ebay you get better deals, an idea about the item. If someone on ebay says mint the disc is in the best condition it possibly can be.(ratings system helps against liers) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I dunno, they should integrate with Valve and steam. Steam has both a good store, and community features already. Of course that means no achievements through LIVE but little things like 360 controller support would be nice to have in every game. Since some prefer it to KB/Mouse~ Flag this | Edit this post |

| Based on what I have read in both the blog and these comments I quite like the new direction of Windows 7. A very minimalistic UI with the same great search bar features. I am sure icons can be modified and made to behave more like they do on the current vista/xp taskbar.
Although simplistic having added features, speed and power to the end user. I have alot of hope in Windows 7 revitalizing the feeling we all have with XP. Just hope MS will not let us down in the long run.
While Vista is a great OS and added very nice features the most important being the integrated search in the start menu it was not a big improvement over XP and bought many more problems at release. I also hope Windows 7 is 64-bit only which forces hardware manufacturers to concentrate on one OS release rather than two different versions when it comes to driver releases and compatibility. Although as the end-user we have no use for true 64-bit processing the expanded memory capability is good reason to move up. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Only games I have bought recently were from steam, havn't gotten a retail PC game in a while.
I still like steam alot, some may bark at it but you do own the games and can re download as many times as you want unless it is Crysis Warhead to which is stupid to require activations since steam acts like a mediator or protection. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Saddam wasn't really much a threat... Irans leader on the other hand is hell bent on proving to the world he is a major bad ass. That being said he probably won't do anything nor have the ability to harness Nuclear weapons in his life time.
In all honesty the best policy is to just leave the fool alone. The old American views on "Isolationism". Worrying about our own backs before the backs of others. Before being a global power, we are a country with our own problems that need fixing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| There not very different in ways, but very different in certain views.
Republicans generally have one mindset about economy and other little things(or large) then democrats. Democrats push more communistic ideals like health care, social security and more government controls in order to better peoples lives. This helps the people on a whole level and makes things more fair. Republicans on the other hand are more for privatized industry, you only get what you can afford mentality of a free market economy. Tax breaks and the such for the biggest of buisness's. Problem with this? It helps big buisness more then it helps the bulk or America. This might be ok if people by nature were not as corrupt as they are.
That is just a basic generalization of both parties.... of course each presidential candidate brings their own opinion or ideal to each topic. I am very simplistic though. I see it as when Democrats had the white house and a majority of power in the senate things were going very well. The clinton Administration, although he had a "scandal" of his own. Bush came to power and everything turned to the shit it is now. I want to see what someone with democratic party ideals can do now. Perhaps things will be better, maybe nothing will change but at this point in time I think radical change in ideals is needed. Flag this | Edit this post |
