| wow, I was really surprised by the score, I expected a lot worse in light of other reviews! The review also seemed quite objective, I think it was a good move to have someone who hasn't played the first 3D game to do it.
Now I might actually try this game at some point. Flag this | Edit this post |

| no, u're not the only one man. The reboot is pointless, and seeing that trailer re-confirms what I thought. It's almost like looking at the first movie just with different actors. Maybe when we see the villain scenes it'll look a tad different.
Raimi was a good director and the 3rd movie wasn't so bad as to warrant a reboot. I was really happy when they announced part 4 and then...
This might still be ok but the trailer is not promising...
And I don't really care how he shoots the web, didn't bother me in the first one and didn't pay much attention to it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| yes, great potential. I was quite impressed with a demo of one of the games that taught you Yoga or something, I think it was from Ubisoft? With some upgrades you could use it for all sorts of physical training, with posture and technique checking etc...the thing yelling at you "bend your knees more!" :)
They also have to work on the "input lag" to speed up the game's reactions to your movements.
good job MS Flag this | Edit this post |

| Good point. I think in general, it would be hard to convey a certain style of gameplay in multiplayer-only mode, where there is no AI. RPG games, where there are tons of enemies of varying levels are well suited for AI. I think the experience would be less enjoyable if a human was to control all the enemies, say you get someone annoying who controls a small goblin and runs around and wastes your time trying to stay alive. One could argue that it all could be balanced, but it may add more cost and complexity to balance such things out than keep things simple with AI.
Or games like Serious Sam - you gonna control all those masses? Yes, I know Left 4 Dead did it to some extent but it was different.
Or Diablo? I don't want every monster to be a challange.
There could be countless examples.
I realised my post may be a bit irrelevant as EA said "offline-ONLY". I guess I was focusing more on why single-player mode is still viable. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I dunno, if you have to use "badass" to describe something, maybe your map is not that great?
I personally support the filtering of content, I would rather have fewer, good quality, pro-looking maps than an infestation of maps of the "yo, this map is teh 1337 kicka$$ Superman best thing in the universe that yo momma's seen" type. I guess I'm getting tired of the trolling a bit ;)
Haven't seen the map though so I don't want to categorize the user or his map, but I'm sure he could use better words for whatever purpose. Flag this | Edit this post |

| because they want to keep the game friendly to new players as well to veteran 40k fans. Marines and Orks are your generic archetypes that will be attractive to the majority of the audience. If they threw in Zerg, ppl would say "what the hell, zerg-like monsters are boring and soooo Starcraft" if they threw in Necrons or Tau with all their weird style of play people would be lost etc... I mean you can argue this, of course, but that's my opinion. Judging by past Relic releases it is likely they will drop in little bits and pieces of other races to enhance the story, which I really hope they will.
Either way, more 40k in any form and especially for PC can't be bad, so lets have faith in the great Relic and be glad they are giving PC'ers SOMETHING!
:)
PS. Also remember that this is a new "franchise" as in a new type of game from Relic set in 40k, so if it does well, there will be further parts and expansions and then you will get your other races. Flag this | Edit this post |
