I bet there was nothing really wrong with his marriage but his addiction spiraled out of control and before he knew it it took over his life completely ... it has been known to occur. The game is meant to be played with max realism ... so Very High is what people are talking about when they complain about performance. On high everyone's system runs fine but the game does not look nearly as good in a DX10 environment with the game is set with everything on Very High. Hurry up with that patch Crytek!!! You folks have very very short memories ... DX9 was crap until SP1 and even then there were still lots of issues until SP2 some two and a half years (or maybe three) after release. So now XP has had all this time for Devs to learn the ins and outs of it and you are saying that Vista is a failure when it is better in many ways and DX10 performance is improving as devs make better drivers. | | You are way off base about that ... Vista with the correct drivers can perform as well (and in some cases slightly better) than XP when it comes to games ... everything else is already even. Even doing development is better on the XP platform ... especially the 64 bit version since you can use more than 3.5 GBs of RAM ... up to 128 GBs if you have the enterprise version of Vista. | Sounds like a bunch of jealous whiners to me ... why are you folks jumping on his back just because he has a REAL UBER system. These days REAL super rigs cost thousands ... sure you can get a nice mid range that is close to high end for under 1500 but not what is now considered a super rig and what he was obviously talking about and yes that is part of what defines a hardcore gaming enthusiasts is his/her rig. What are the rest of you folks talkig about. What person who is not a hardcore gamer have rigs that show the guts with all kinds of gamer BLUE light and LCSes? Not the average joe. And I will tell you what you won't be able to build a reliable Liquid cooled system for less than $2000. So yeah a $3000 is the exclusive realm of the super rigs and as good as my rig is I would still like to be part of that club. So yeah Soldier don't worry about these jealous folks ... go on with your bad self. :)
People should be aware that a super rig has at least a quad core or the fastest dual core that is the lowest cpu; high end motherboard with option to do tri-sli and 1333mhz bus, one GTX or Ultra card or two 8800GT or greater in SLi; Sound 7.1, 4 GB RAM 800Mhz lowest speed (pref DDR3); 10,000 RPM 150GB primary HD at least 500 GBs for backup/RAID, LCS (Liquid cooling system), 850 or greater PSU, Blu-ray drive, 22" monitor at least 1680x1050 res (pref 24" 1920x1200 res), G15 gaming keyboard or similar high end gaming kb, and of course a gaming mouse. They did a great job with this patch for the people they were originally aiming the high end features of the game at anyway ... the Vista/DX10, dual/quad core, SLI performance systems. So finally they got something right. Now I can play the game at 1680x1050 with ALL setting on Very High and get frames in the high 30s low 40s which seems fine for this game.
