I would agree if he was in the act, but he wasn't. The victim was driving away and this idiot fired into the back of the truck as it's going down the road. there was no threat to his wife. His wife should be punished severely, but he shouldn't get off scot free for shooting somebody in the back that is no threat. He should have chased the guy down and beat the living crap out of him.

It seems that while this line of thinking will be good for quite a few applications, it will not be good for gaming. How much of the gpu is left to do all the calculations for physics, pathing, ai, etc... if the card is already being worked to it's max putting the intense graphics on the screen? there has to be a trade-off somewhere.

and economies in games like WoW? that is completely controlled by the people playing the game, not by the game itself. The computer doesn't set prices for things that are bought and sold between players. Thats why you can play on 2 different servers and have completely different economies on them even though it's the same game.

but it is a well written article. One of the few I have seen in this contest.

graphics look good. I hope the netcode is up to WoW standards and not the horrible mess that lotro's netcode is.

I hope this was verified as a real charity orginization before firingsquad posted the link to donate. If it turns out to be another scam, like 99.9% of internet based charities it could be bad.

the only rep that is ruined is yours. EA is good. There was no huge media response before EA announced there were problems they were working on. They are always on the ball fixing things.

your right. EA is always on top of things and releases patches when needed as opposed to some other companies that just say screw it.

what language is this written in? there are some english words in there, but a whole lot of funny symbols and other graphical things instead of letters in a whole bunch of the words. Not really sure what the point is when I don't know what so many of the words are supposed to be.

My 6800 ultra is agp also, and only has 256mb of ram. In fact, it is an evga 6800 ultra in a p4 3.2 ee system that I built in 2003 on an asus p4c-800E with 2gb of ram. Besides, pcie doesn't really make much difference, yet.

another thing that also affects performance in this type of game is system memory, 2gb makes a significant difference over 1gb. As does server load in lotro, since the netcode is so horrible still.

but the real difference must be between the the crippled 6800 and the full fledged 6800 gt and ultra.

Sorry Droniac, but the x800 PRO isn't even close to the 6800 ultra. here is a review of several cards of that era.

jacobvandy, you should not open your mouth about something you obviously know nothing about. It's been proven time and again that 30 fps is noticably choppy. It has nothing to do with fluctuations. when you are flashing static discreet images on the screen the way computer games do, the human eye can detect the small jumps in the images because there is no motion blur like there is in recorded images. It has to be over 60fps for most people to perceive it as smooth. and some people have even better sight and can notice the choppiness in that even. I am sorry you don't like reality, but that is a fact. It has been scientifically proven. You are just restating an old myth that was started because of motion pictures appearing smooth at 30fps. computer graphics are a completely different animal.

30 is just acceptable, 60 is the sweetspot for most people to perceive it as smooth, which is why everybody strives for 60. My eyes are nowhere near perfect, yet I can tell when it's below 60 fps, and that is not because of fluctuation, it's because the images don't move fast enough to give the apparence of smooth movement.

And air force tests have proven that the human eye can detect over 220 fps.

uhh, what kind of 6800? the x800 not better than the 6800, they are fairly comparable. But the 6800 generally outruns the comparable x800 card. I have a 6800 ultra that runs great at max settings.

did you test on a closed network in the lab? If you just tested on the internet, your graphs are pretty much useless. Too many other factors can affect ping and framerate to do an open test like that.

It was in game for a little while. But they had to take it out because it was causing the servers to crash everytime somebody tried to do it. I've been playing it since thanksgiving.

If it was true that people didn't care about things like this, People magazine and all the other trash tabloids would go out of business. Instead they are the most purchased magazines around.

who cares about the sli drivers when they can't even get the normal drivers right. first job is just to get the drivers working for normal users first. Once that happens then they can go and tweak them for sli.

you should have just copied the patch from your desktop to the laptop and all is solved. some of the patches are stored in the main WoW folder, while this one is in a patch folder in the WoW folder. after downloading to one computer you just need to transfer it to your others. Much quicker that way.

It's only a grind if you make it a grind. If you actually 'play' the game, there is no grind at all.

If the game is still in alpha, it's a year or more away from completion, not "several months". mmo's take a lot of development and testing. So there is still plenty of time to tweak the graphics

reading the title I felt sorry for the girl. But after reading the article, she deserved it and he got the shaft. She pulled out he lock and started breaking out all the windows in his car, he stopped it. She should have been charged with malicious destruction, instead she is the victim and he gets arrested.
