| | Microsoft requires that all Xbox 360 games support 5.1 surround sound. But, yeah, I probably should have evaluated it with some other games too. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Color me impressed. This is the first time Sony's really been able to grab my attention in a positive way since E3 2005. It looks like it's probably more than just smoke and mirrors this time too. I do have a few concerns. For instance, the whole movie trailer thing. It seems overly complicated to go through that whole virtual world to see a movie trailer, and I hope it will expand to full screen.
This definitely has some potential though. I would love to see some games integrate seamlessly with it. For instance just step out of the apartment and you're in the game world, using your avatar as the main character. This could be the PS3's first real killer ap. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Many of the members of this cluster are not only poor writers, but also poor reviewers. If you take the time to calculate the scores as you did, you'll find a lot of people rating articles 1's and 10's. Whether these people are intentionally trying to sway votes, or they're just incapable of an honest review, I don't know. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I think you start out well. As someone who has also become a jaded FF fan, I can relate to the excitement you describe surrounding FFVI/III and the resulting staleness the series seems to have taken on.
Overall, the article feels a little shallow though. Why don't you like the newer titles? What aspects of the games need to be changed to recapture that old magic? Is it that the series has changed too much or that it hasn't changed enough? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | What exactly are you giving the reader in this article? Any reader of FS has probably read these things a thousand times over on every forum out there. You're merely summing up the respective strengths of the different consoles. It needs more insight. Also, watch the run-on sentences. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think the biggest part of the learning curve in any online game is learning the maps. The ability to accurately aim a mouse or joypad pales in importance next to the knowledge of where to find the best weapons and the strategic advantages of certain areas of the map. | I'm not really sure where you're going with this article. Is it about what the 360 is doing right, or what the PS3 is doing wrong, or what the PS2 did right? You switch back and forth between those topics a lot, but don't really tie it all together at the end.
Also, you make a lot of assertions but don't really back them up well. You just kind of throw them out there as statements of fact without telling us why they are correct. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | This reads more like a guide or a tutorial than an actual review. You spend the vast majority of the article describing the gameplay mechanics. It all reads like a technical manual, rather than a subjective review telling me about the highlights and drawbacks of a game. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Already played all its aces? Of its four key first party franchises (Halo, Fable, Forza, & Project Gotham), only one has seen a next gen version so far. Not to mention 3rd party exclusives like Mass Effect and Bioshock.
Sales wise, Sony has a problem. They've sold fewer units than either of their competitors and they're selling them at a slower rate, which means that gulf will only increase. If this continues, more and more franchises that were exclusive to Sony will move to become multi platform. Assassin's Creed, GTA, and VF have already done so. The PS3 may be a great system with great games, but from a sales perspective their situation is dire.
If Nintendo keeps numbers like this up though, the PS3/360 debate becomes moot. They would be the undisputed sales leader by the middle of next year. Even the PS2 only broke 500,000 units in January once, and that was in its fourth year. And who knows what they Wii sales figures would be if they could keep up with demand. | | Will the judges be offering any criticisms of the articles? The introductory article states that FS will be featuring a few articles every day, but so far all I've seen is the first update. Also, I still find the scoring system rather confusing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Will scoring in later rounds be the same 400/300 split between editors and readers? I get the distinct feeling that a lot of people are rating these articles based on the subjects or affiliation to a particular author rather than the actual quality of writing. With such high stakes prizes, I would be much more comfortable if the non-partisan and more experienced judges had more influence. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Will articles submitted later in the preliminary be compensated in any way? It seems as if articles submitted earlier have a tremendous advantage in terms of having more time to generate page views, more time to receive feedback and edit the article, and less initial competition for attention on the page. | | I like the way you start out and end the article. Anyone who's played Oblivion instantly knows that feeling of being taken out of the game by a line of code that doesn't recognize you for your accomplishments. I think you should have stuck with that line of thought. You get a little off track in the middle covering your other gripes with the game. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I have mixed feelings about the article. I like the way it reads. I feel almost like I'm having a conversation with the author. It feels very natural.
At the same time, I don't like the way it reads. It can be difficult to follow the train of thought through all the sentence fragments and rhetorical questions. Which, by the way, is there an actual train of thought? It feels like 5 separate articles with no connection between them. It makes it difficult to sustain an interest when I have no idea where this is going. Also, the paragraphs need to be broken up more. The large chunks of words make it difficult to keep your place.
Again, I like the way it reads, it just needs to be structured better so the reader can follow along easier. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Actually, the point of the article wasn't intended so much to be who bears the brunt of the blame for any lack of innovation in games today. Rather, I was trying to challenge the conventional wisdom that Nintendo can successfully innovate the industry and expand it into the mass market. The sales statistics I cited were to illustrate that the mass market is not interested in innovative or original games, making the two sides of Nintendo's stated goal mutually exclusive.
