| You're certainly right about the ad companies, but I'm talking about the stance that the game makers are taking on the issue. Since they have "absolute approval rights" we can at least hope they will make the right (tasteful) decisions.
One could hope that continued support of this game would be possible from the game sales alone, but a sure-fire source of revenue through ads (as long as people still play) long after the initial sale has been made at least has a chance of benefiting the gamers in the end. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. I don't care for the idea of ads in games that much either, but it's absolutely not a deal breaker in this case. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It's better than monthly fees, which I personally wouldn't pay for any game. They seem dedicated to making sure the ads are placed tastefully and appropriately. If this means faster and better patch turnaround, and cool new maps (maybe even weapons/vehicles?) down the road, I'm for it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| They're building it to last. The longer it waits the better it should be. I can't think of anything coming out that really fills the void that ET:Quake Wars will.
EBGames might be trying to fill pre-orders with the earlier release dates. Hard to trust them, that's for sure. /Conspiracy theory. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Sweeeeeeet!! Soul Calibur is the finest fighter ever made IMO.
I look forward to seeing what the roster is. The roster for SC3 was huge, I hope it doesn't get any bigger. Tons of characters is cool too, but the more characters they add seems to pull the series farther away from the purity of the original. It might be just as neat to see more of a focused selection. Time will tell...
I hope they bring back random team battles. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You didn't like Doom 3, but that doesn't make it a horrible game. It has great atmosphere, fantastic creatures, and the technology compliments the game design extremely well. That flashlight thing that everyone loves so much to complain about adds a really cool level of suspense, though they probably could have gotten away with allowing it to be equippable with the pistol (and there's always the duct-tape mod).
Doom 3 is a very unique game in it's own right. I can't wait for id's next game, they are always huge milestones for the industry. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Agreed. C&C left me feeling lukewarm after the nostalgia wore off. Variety is good, if a little harder to balance. Dawn of War is a good example, just now having been relatively balanced (after 2 expansions making 7 races that are almost completely different).
C&C does have some variety between the races in the way the buildings and units look and act, but you really get a sense of deja-vu playing from one race to another. The tech trees are very similar.
Although, C&C3 isn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Flag this | Edit this post |
