I worship Valve, but that doesn't mean they push PC-focused tech like an id, Epic or Crytek of old. They are still using the 4-year old Source Engine, though it has some enhancements.
Same story with Blizzard. The recently announced Diablo III seems to be running on more primitive tech than even Titan Quest.
No argument that their games are important, top-tier releases, but they aren't examples of cutting edge PC tech.

Guess what? The days of big-budget PC aimed games are over. Crysis Warhead was the last of its kind. ALL future top-tier games will be made with consoles in mind. Even id Software's Rage has had complexity and features cut because consoles didn't have the power to run them. Whether you agree or disagree with it, piracy has killed the PC games industry as we once knew it.
