| | If I remember right I averaged around 50fps on medium at 1440 and a little over 30fps on high at 1680 using vista dx10. Trolls that "optimized" the hell out of their windows xp system were hardly playing the game as it was intended. The 8800gt was basically as fast or faster than the 8800gtx's or ultra's at lower resolutions and came out about 6 months after the ultra so I don't see your logic. Not to mention the 8800gt would only average around 20fps on high in all the benchmarks I've seen. All the noobs playing a slide show and telling themselves its just fine is laughable really. Averaging 30fps is hardly well optimized for most pc gamers. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I like me a little Guitar Hero once in awhile, but the game never evolved beyond mediocre graphics and rehashed gameplay. The biggest problem for me was definitely the lack of songs I liked. Paying $60 for a handful of songs and then getting bored after an hour isn't a good thing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I remember paying $630 for a 8800 ultra and upgrading to a dual core in anticipation for Crysis and I ended up playing the game on medium at 1440x900 instead of 1680x1050 on high and it still ran like crap. Man I was pissed. I still can't play the game on ultra at 1080p with good frame rates after all these years and mulitple PC builds and upgrades. Crysis was unoptimized and a complete joke. Yerli is a tool. Flag this | Edit this post |

| 1. Battlefield Bad Company 2
2. Mass Effect 2
3. Alien Swarm
4. Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam
5. Starcraft 2
6. COD: BLOP
7. Mafia 2
8. Just Cause 2
9. Alien Vs. Predator
10. Metro 2033
I guess these are the only PC games I played this year. Sorry but Metro 2033 was just a tad bit more disappointing than AVP, mostly because of the predetermined graphics settings and the fact it gave me motion sickness. Alien Swarm was a breathe of fresh air and the price was nice. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It's a DX9 console port. As long as you have a fast duo core or a decent tri/quad and a ati4850 or 9800gtx you should be maxing out DX9 console ports at 1080p all day long. I think thats been the case the last couple of years. Not exactly news worthy information, but news nonetheless. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm confused. So the new 6000 series is less powerful than the previous 5000 series, but keeps the same naming scheme indicating it should be more powerful, but costs less. So basically all Nvidia has to do is rebadge the 470 gtx as a 580 gtx and all will be right in the world of graphics and they will still have the most powerful next gen card. Almost as bad as having 465 gtx be less powerful in many cases compared to a 460 gtx. Wow. It's just plain lazy and misleading BS regardless of the pricing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So basically if I pay for my games and want to support American developers who lose billions of dollars to piracy around the world each year I watch Fox News? Wow, brilliant deduction Sherlock. So you would rather see them go out of business or have some more jobs shipped overseas. Would that suite your agenda? It's obvious you do not live in the U.S. or you'd see how dumb that sounds. Clearly you or your mommy has a PC and "the internet" so do your own research. You come on here to bash my statement and bring zero facts in your defense. Wow, nice work. I came here to make a comment, not to blog to trolls like yourself. That's all I have to say about that. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The U.S. has software piracy laws making stealing copyrighted games highly illegal, so most people don't. This is simply not the case in most other countries. I could care less if people in Australia steal Australian games because apparently it's ok to do so. Just for your information Cool.DK, most hard working Americans could care less about your lovely popularity contest. Just saying. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Considering the majority of the games I buy are made by hard working developers in the United States, I will keep paying for my games. It's ironic that the article has Australia mentioned in it. Can you name one thing you've bought recently that was made in Australia? I didn't think so. Maybe they should start contributing to the gaming industry instead of stealing from it. | | You're not the only one. I hated this game for many reasons and I have no idea what all the fuss was about. Why the retail PC version was so broke will forever remain a mystery. My copy is safely stored at the bottom of the local landfill where it belongs. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'd maybe try 3D again if they lock the refresh rate over 60 fps and lose the glasses. I was probably watching at 24 fps or something which is definitely not enough. Crysis 2 in 3D will no doubt be a low frame rate/low res mess on a PS3 or 360. The graphical horsepower just isn't there. I couldn't imagine a 3D first person shooter at a low refresh rate. I'd puke all over myself for sure. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Crysis isn't a bad game and I'm sure Crysis 2 will be ok. It just seems gameplay in shooters is starting to become a little stale...especially if you've been playing a lot of shooters in the last decade. The first Crysis renewed shooters with extreme graphics, the suit thing, and detailed destructible environments. COD4 brought addictive perks to the table. COD5 had a entertaining zombie mode which saved the game from mediocrity. L4D and L4D2 was really fun with the second one bringing major improvements. The question is... what do the games coming out in the next 12 months bring new to the table? Crysis 2 looks like Crysis in NY, COD Black Ops seems like previous COD's, Medal of Honor looks pretty standard, Halo Reach has a few things going for it but nothing you won't find gimmicky after a few hours. A shooter is a shoooter is a shooter. I'm not sure why BFBC2 held my interest for so long, (probably the perks mixed with destructible environments) so maybe there's hope I can be entertained with what's coming out this fall and next spring. Time will tell. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Halo Reach has some new gameplay elements like jet packs, etc., but it's nothing I found too exciting. I'm just suffering from years of first-person shooter fatigue. I'm sure both Crysis 2 and Reach will be a descent games, I'm just getting bored with the genre. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm still not sure if I should be excited about this game or any shooter coming out in the next 12 months. Cookie cutter first person shooters seems to be the norm lately and Crysis 2 seems to be no exception. I'd like to see more games like Alien Swarm and some good third person shooters like GRAW on the 360. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So punishing and possibly banning people who quit when little kids are screaming obscenities into the microphone, racists comments are being thrown around, people are hacking/glitching, clans are stacking teams, and the all to normal negative experiences due to host advantage connection issues is gonna be the norm? Sign me up? I think people rage quit when they are having a negative experience, not the other way around. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yup the 260 is a great card. I think a 470 with really good aftermarket cooling for $180-230 would be a good upgrade....especially when they squeeze a little more performance out of the drivers over time. The DX11 bandwagon is really hard to resist, but in reality it's still a DX9 console port world. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I tried a 5770 and was going to go crossfire, but boy oh boy do ATI drivers stink. Crash, crash, crash. I tried a 470 gtx too. When auto fan ramps up to 70% and makes more noise than 5 case fans, runs at 88-92c, and barely has enough performance to justify the price, we have a problem. I went back to my OC'd 260gtx 216sp 55nm and there I shall stay for awhile. Games never crash and the 257.21 drivers (as with most Nvidia drivers) are rock solid. I really want to like ATI, Fermi, the whole DX11 thing, but I saw no significant visual or performance difference in any of the DX11 games I have. I'll be skipping the current generation of GPU's and I will be waiting for a Nvidia die shrink or a significant refresh. Flag this | Edit this post |
