| | D3 is my first Diablo experience. So far I have mixed opinions, but I'm only level 5. I wasn't able to log on last night due to servers being down but was able to play some this morning. So far it's slow moving and repetitive, but the story is starting to develop, so we'll see. I may tire of repeated clicking faster than most. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | You say the three choices of play style are customizable in the options. Does this mean I can only switch back and forth between the 3 play styles, or does it mean I can pick and choose elements from each play style? For example, can I pick the Action style, but choose to be able to pick my responses to events (like in ME2) instead of only having cutscenes? Flag this | Edit this post |

| Not a criticism, but I'm curious: Since when did this site open itself up to including console games? I'm guessing maybe this is the first review to do so. Is this something that will be continued in the future or will this remain purely a PC gaming site?
Granted Firingsquad has changed a lot in the 10+ years I've been coming here, and times change, but with how the front page has slowed down, I'm curious to what the direction of the site is. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Nice review! Thanks for keeping the site going! The review went from good to great when you made the comment about never using iTunes.
However, I know you weren't trying to give away much of the campaign, but considering you said single player is your favorite part and you don't play multiplayer, I was expecting you to write more about the campaign.
So far I'm only on about the 7th or 8th mission and, personally, I'm feeling the storyline is a little lackluster. I'm hoping it just hasn't all come together yet, but right now it seems like I'm just doing silly little missions to get money or learn the game, instead of engrossing myself in a multi-faceted war that could impact the fate of the universe.
Also, maybe I'm giving SC2 and unfair expectation level since I just finished playing Mass Effect 2. I'm hoping the story line gets better as I continue through the campaign.
Multiplayer is still a blast! Flag this | Edit this post |

| LOL Labotomizer!! You beat me to it! I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like we will have a little friendly competition.
I mean, all I want to do is curl up on the couch and watch a movie on his Eyefinity 75 inch displays powered by Radeon gazillions and an AMD 90000000000 Blacker than Black edition.
Also, I would like to share a laugh over mocking consoles Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yah that, or Activision just figures this will be another team they can use to milk a game a year out of that has pretty much the exact same gameplay. Good thing the halo franchise never really made it to PC so Activision won't be screwing PC gamers as much on this one. Flag this | Edit this post |

| While I agree with you that the extra 10 dollars is very unfortunate, I do have to correct you in some areas. Yes, this is "1/3" of a game, but as somebody else pointed out below, this terran campaign is as long as the entire first game.
Also, from the news post above, "Players who purchase either edition will be able to play online for no additional fee through the new version of Battle.net®, the premier online gaming destination for Blizzard Entertainment gamers. " Since they are not going to start charging now, I doubt they will begin charging for battle.net in the near future. SC2 (all three parts) and D3 will be released on battle.net and they can't start charging after the game's been released and they've established no charge for online play.
Third, have you played the game? Yes, the artwork is similar to the original; it is a sequel. I was concerned, at first, that this was just a graphics upgrade, but if you read comments from beta testers many of them remark on how much is different, i.e., new strategies, units, tactics, etc.
You can choose to do what you like with your money, but at least properly inform yourself and research first.
10 extra dollars does suck, but I've spent 10 extra dollars on much worse. Plus, PC games won't cost $50 forever. To be honest, it's probably getting about time where inflation drove the price up, and hopefully we are paying the extra 10 dollars for a AAA title, versus 50 dollars or less for a C or B level title.
I'd be much more worried about the inflation in gas prices than PC games, IMO. Flag this | Edit this post |
