World Cyber Games or Bust!
Alex Mebane here with the Daily Phlegm.
---
The World Cyber Games are in the news. The USA National Final will be held in Los Angeles October 3rd-5th at the E for All Expo, bringing together 200 of America's best gamers.
---
Ay carumba! The U-S-A did itself proud at the World Cyber Games Pan-American championship this past weekend in Monterey Mexico taking first place in at least seven categories. Gamers from 13 countries competed in the three day event before a crowd of nearly 10,000.
---
Of course if you're going to be in Lagos Nigeria next week, they'll be hosting their preliminary round of the World Cyber Games. FIFA 08, Need for Speed, Virtual Fighter 5 and Carom 3-D will be the official games on hand. What the heck, might be good time to catch up with that Nigerian prince I get so many emails from lately. He does owe me some money.
---
All of these events are a run up to the World Cyber Games Championship in November in Cologne, Germany, which given the name, you would think smelled better than it does.
---
Of course, if you're looking for something a little closer in the U-S, you might consider going to the Nvidia Nvision 08 event in San Jose California August 25th-27th. They're hoping to make history and find their way into the Guiness Book of World Records by hosting the World's longest non-stop LAN party. They're looking for dedicated gamers who'll play for 36 hours straight. However, you are allowed a 10 Minute break every 60 minutes. What's the fun in that? If you're not catheterized, I say you're not trying hard enough. Click the link to the right for more information.

Microsoft isn't resting on its laurels, which frankly hurt when you sit on them. They're already working on the next generation console…Xbox 720? The rumors and reality are found in the link.
---
In October, Sierra Entertainment will be bringing out The Ghostbusters video game for all platforms. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, the original writers of the films, created the storyline and lend their voices as well as Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and other cast members from the movies. Clink on the link to see some game footage.

And here's a daily puppy. I'm Alex Mebane and that's today's phlegm.
