» Next Gen Card?
I don't understand why anyone would buy a next generation card today. Maybe I'm mentally challenged but at the rate which the computer hardware market turns over I wouldn't buy a next gen card until I was on the door step of the next gen. Example, if I wanted a card that would play Crysis I would wait until Crysis is actually in my hands before I bought a new card. That way, even if a new card hasn't come out by that time I would have heard of any in the pipe (and could decide to wait for them) and/or get the benefit of any price drops should they have occurred. In addition, I would receive the benefit of any hardware updates to existing card(s) and driver updates.

I want a card today for todays games and a card for future games in the future.

» DX10
This article is about comparing DX10 8600GTS cards. Why would you not test DX10? A quick run of Lost Planet and COH would have gave us some meat..I don't want just veggies...

Does anyone know how a 7950 GX2 vid card would compare to the performance of these newer DX10 cards ... the 8600 series and the 8800 GTS? I cannot find any current information or benchmarks on the 7950 and before I buy a new card I would like to be sure I will see some real benefits. The 7950 may not be a DX10 card but man does it ever enable games to perform extremely well in an XP/DX9 environment.

I'm pretty sure at one point in the recent past this was the fastest single slot vid card on the market. I know the 8800 GTX and Ultra's will beat the 7950 in performance (for games like UT3, Crysis, Gears, etc.) but I am clueless about the other GPUs.

I am not going to Vista any time before Crysis comes out but I am planning on running Gears of War PC and Unreal Tournament 3 on my WinXP PC and I would like to be able to run these games at higher than medium settings ... maybe not the maximum but definitely high and I don't play games above 1600x1200 res since I don't have a Widescreen monitor.

Any help or info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
