» Fermi coming in Dec?

Fudzilla belives NVIDIA's next-generation Fermi GPU will be launched in December. According to their sources NVIDIA's already taking orders but can't provide their partners with a firm launch date yet. The launch could occur in the last few days of November, or early December.

If NVIDIA can pull off a launch in Fudzilla's timeframe, that would be an incredibly quick turnaround. We now know NVIDIA just got first silicon back from Taiwan a month ago. In comparison ATI first showed RV870 to the public in early June, with the launch occurring 3 months later in Sept. Fudzilla expects most of NVIDIA's early allocation will go towards the server market, where Tesla cards can command significantly higher price premiums than GeForce. NVIDIA could probably opt for less aggressive clocks for Tesla boards as well to improve yields as well as their profit margins.

"launch" in Dec.. sure why not? Heck they can even say they ALREADY launched in Sept.
You can even stretch that 1 prototype board = hardware availability.

But, actually getting thousands of boards into arms of consumers is a long uphill battle where many things could go wrong. nVidia just recently made DX10.1 parts, and has no experience with tesselation like AMD. Not to mention AMD has had GDDR5 working for a year, and this will be nVidia's first attempt.

In short, getting EVERYTHING working PERFECTLY, tested and verified on super GIANT chip at supersonic fast pace will take a miracle.

My first guess would be $499 if not more for their high end. Out of reach for most. My 2 5870s in xfire will still own it regardless of how much better it is.

Yesterday morning on the 5800 price increase article, you said "What good is increasing prices if the bastards are sold out every day, can't get one at all, I've been hitting refresh on newegg every 5 min since last week."

Good luck getting those 5870s in XFire...

not to mention he first he said his Graphics card was an OC 4890, then a few posts later it was a 1gb 4870 (notice he 'downgraded' his supposed system heheheh. BTW if you want proof i can research the comment if you like)

then his CPU was supposedly a 4ghz AMD CPU that was cooled by Water cooling which changed to an AIR cooled AMD CPU running at 4.3ghz

So yeah just keep tabs with his ever changing PC stats its hilarious

I wouldn't bother with trying to keep up with soldja-boy's inconsistencies. It will just make your head spin. Just know you can't believe anything he ever says about what he actually owns since he contradicts himself almost every other comment section. Next week we'll hear how the 5870s he ordered are on backorder. Then we'll hear he's actually got 4 of them hooked up to 24 50" displays. Of course that will be followed by a comment on how he is waiting to buy display port TVs.

If they can keep the prices down I'll snag one of them instead of ATI's rather nice cards.
