this game kicks a**!
I recently built a new system (p4 3.0(800fsb) with a radeon 9600pro
128mb and was trying to find a game that would test it to its
limits. This is that game.
I've cranked up all the visual options to maximum
(1600x120032bit)and the visuals are stunning. I have never seen a
game that rendered the environment so realistically, you should see
the water in this thing.
I recommend this to anyone who has a system that is able to show it
in its full glory..

Well this is the first game that ground my now-looking-long-tooth
athlon 2GHz/GF3-ti500 into the ground big style. Even HALO wasnt
this bad.
oh well it was free :)

If you're referringto the British PC Gamer magazine, I don't know -
but what I do know is that some of the UK "GAME" stores
have free demo disks available on the shelf.
The latest screenshots remind me of looking at my friends holiday
snaps. (with noticably more violence)

good point goofus, yeah I like how the demo just zooms you in, as if
you were "focusing: on a particular object...

I'm kind of on the fence about the "Iron Sights" thing.
The way most games implement it, it blocks field of vision too much.
Real Iron Sights don't do this so much, due to the fact that humans
have two eyes to see with, and blurriness of the near object (gun
barrel) cuts down even more on FOV restriction. I like Far Cry's
system better, since the guns look like they would from your OTHER
eye.

Was the preview 32-bit or 64-bit? Also, will the final version of
Far Cry get used for Benchmarking?

Once I got broadband I stopped paying for magazines. There really
is no point if you don't rely on the demo disks, which are usually
outdated and bloated with crap you don't want...
