I can't believe fs gave this thing an 85% when it falls flat on it's
chips in benchmarks.

"simply drop in a RADEON 9800 XT with the added bonus of
SURROUNDVIEW. No other solution on the market can offer this,
whether it’s based on core-logic from Intel, VIA, NVIDIA, or
SiS."
If this is trying to say that there's nothing else like
SURROUNDVIEW, it's a bunch of hooey. Matrox has had Surround Gaming
for a couple years now. Despite the many opportunities this brings,
game developers have pretty much ignored the potential, in some
cases even going so far as to call it cheating (BF 1942). It'll be
interesting to see if any of them change their minds now that ATI
could support the same thing.

Given the driver issues ATI still has years after being
"committed to fixing the issues", personally the very last
thing I'd do is let them manufacter my main mobo.

The performance is poor enough that it doesn't matter a heck of
alot. I still wouldn't put this board in anything but a totally
NON-gaming computer.
And in that case, I would go with an Intel chipset because of proven
stability.
When the onboard chips can all be completely completely trumped by a
$50 add-in board, it's not even worth arguing about.
They definately need to get more aggressive with these onboard
solutions if they ever expect them to sell. Lower-Midrange at
least.

you know wot i dont understand brandon? why you didnt include the
nforce IGP for comparision because the 9100IGP "would be taking
on NVIDIA’s nForce head-on." I also would like to see a
frequecy responce out of the onboard audio of this and the nforce
and the FPS's they provide for games. (using onboard and add-in
sound solutions) i want to see the ATI chipset and the Nvidia
chipset duke it out in every way possible.

Yeah....it might be one of the better integrated chips, but it still
lags behind even a 9000 Pro add-in.
Like #2 said, I'd be willing to bet that they could sell ALOT more
motherboards if they'd have the balls to put a midrange chip such as
the 9600 with full features onboard. They could charge a slight
premium and still do well too.
I believe one of the other main problems, is that these integrated
chips use the system memory and bus. That probably slows them down
quite a bit. Perhaps they could put a single dedicated DRAM slot
with a direct link to the onboard chip so people could add their own
memory??
Maybe it could eventually get to the point where they put a
dedicated socket on the motherboard and you would swap out which
video chip you wanted in there, and then add the dedicated memory.
That'd be kinda cool actually.

If I were to buy a new mobo or to upgrade my current comp, I would
be upgrading to AMD's Athlon 64. That upgrade should last me a few
years unlike the current 32-bit chips.

IGPs need to get an average video chipset instead of all the low end
stuff.
I bet a standard 9600 would be popular while costing little more
than a 9100IGP

It's nice that ATI finally has some IGP, but it would have been
better if it was on a Small Form Factor board for Athlon 64.
