I love Painkiller and agree with the review. It delivered exactly
what it promised. Amazing graphics/physics/levels/monsters. It's
just plain fun :)

Turn off the battle music - turn up the ambient music and play this
late at night with a decent pair of headphones (and a very decent
PC) and you will be in awe of the graphics and sounds.
... there really is some level of detail that has gone into the
environment, the physics and the sounds that make it a pleasure to
play and even more fun the second time attempting to get all the
tarot cards to unlock "Trauma". You find yourself surfing
off any object that you can drag with your Painkiller wep - you can
get some serious height on some of these levels if you grab an
object (e.g. the winches on Snowy Bridge), jump on it and repeatedly
alternate fire at it :)
I liked serious sam, mainly for the co-op element, but this is in a
different league much much better.

I actually really started to enjoy Painkiller after the first few
levels and especially from the second world onwards. The Asylum map
in the second world would have to be one of the more disturbing
maps/levels in a game I've played through outside the Silent Hill
games. Especially when you have those creepy half-legged zombie
things crawling on the ceiling and when you hit them with the stake
gun they hang from the roof from which ever limb you had shot the
stake through. What I did really like about Painkiller was the
music. It was a pleasant surprise to have some catchy moshable
metal/industrial riffs pumping out instead of the usual crap you
have with games.

My verdict: "Pain in the $@#."
Not the game. This site. Would someone like to explain to me why I
have to click through almost HALF A DOZEN screens to read one review
of one game?
"Home of the Hardcore Gamer," indeed. This is as bad as
%&$!@ GameSpy.
