Oh please. I don't steal, and I don't condone it either, but even
I'm smart enough to realize that there are two types of file
sharers...
One has the CD and doesn't know how/doesn't care to rip it himself.
Type two doesn't have the CD and can't afford to buy it.
In neither case is the RIAA losing any sales.
Acutally, in my case the music industry is gaining sales because I
can't stand 128Kbit "sh*t quality". My Napster
experiences, way back when, sold over 30 CD's, mostly because I
couldn't download any tracks that sound any good...

The RIAA has the right to do this. I mean if the music buying
public is as masochistic as they seem to be, then they definitely
want the whippings.

> "It's basically like suing you for spamming because
something got on your computer and sent it out before you could even
do anything about it.
No, it's not. If you actually read what I posted you would see the
difference.
> "Next thing you know someone is going to pantent all cords
and you won't even be able to play a harmonica without paying
someone a 5 cent fee."
Another typical &!!$ exaggeration used by thieves.
> "Anyway I think your nut's."
That's ok, I think you're stupid.
> "Why are you so angry about people downloading
songs."
I'm not angry at all. I have no idea how you can tell that over the
internet. I just state the facts.
> "Do something usefull and don't litter and start
recycling. You could have saved a few trees with the effort you put
into cheering for the RIAA which many view as an evil organization
anyway."
I don't litter and I'm already a big fan of recycling. My litter is
always sorted and put into the recycling bin. I'm just an extremely
efficient person.

It's basically like suing you for spamming because something got on
your computer and sent it out before you could even do anything
about it. I don't know just what the RIAA's problem is. Next thing
you know someone is going to pantent all cords and you won't even be
able to play a harmonica without paying someone a 5 cent fee. Sure I
think stealing music is wrong so I just listen to the Radio, but I
buy less CD's now because I don't like the idea of supporting an
organization that goes after kids and old ladies, not to mention
they are rather expensive so most that I do buy it was only because
they were on sale and I really liked them. I also like buying a song
at a time online. No one want's to buy a CD for only 1 or 2 songs,
expect for Dave Mathew's Some Devil. Yeah I only listen to Grave
Digger on that but I liked that song so much I wanted the CD. Anyway
I think your nut's. Why are you so angry about people downloading
songs. How about being angry about something usefull like litter. Do
something usefull and don't litter and start recycling. You could
have saved a few trees with the effort you put into cheering for the
RIAA which many view as an evil organization anyway.

> "This old lady has to pay becuase ignorance is not an
excuse?"
Ignorance of the law has never been an excuse. Get used to it.
> "She never had internet, probably didnt have a clue who
the RIAA or MPAA is, and had no way of knowing what her son
did."
She DID have the internet, and should have been more vigilant on the
usage of the internet account in her name that she CONSENTED to.
> "So we are going to threaten to sue her for a large sum of
money she doesnt have, for something that she didnt know was
happening... and get this..."
TOUGH &@!#!
> "LEGALLY had no responsibility for."
Can you prove this statement?
> "I mean why else would they have gone the route they did
so that they could get a seperate bill unless the son was paying for
it?"
Can you even read? They didn't want a separate bill since the
provider would have added an extra surcharge to the bill. They
didn't go that route at all. Saying you tried doesn't count.
> "To put it in terms everyone can understand, its like me
going to your house, downloading music, without your knowledge, and
then you getting sued. "
No, it's not the same. I have not consented to you coming into my
house. Therefore, I'm not responsible. This women consented to the
internet account in her name. In the end though the RIAA dropped
it's case against them. (So much for the evil greedy corporation
eh?)

Too %%## bad for the greedy corporations. If they don't price
cultural products for the mass market then it'll be priced fairly on
the black market.
The fact is that widespread distribution demands a lower price than
unique and one-of-a-kind objects. If you choose to make a
"killing" rather than make a "profit" then you
should expect an angry customer base to look for ways not to support
you and instead "buy" from the "un-licensed"
seller that offers it at a reasonable price.

Sharing and copying are not the same thing. If I come and take your
car out for a joyride without your permission, do you still call
that "sharing"?
"Vande, you are a moron.
People shares books. People still buy books.
People share dvds. People still buy dvds.
People share music. People still buy music (online or CDs).
There has always been a certain amount of "sharing"
inherent in the copyright/capitalist system. It lets our law
enforcement professionals focus on the important crimes and
criminals.
Grow up. Get a clue. Until then, keep your mouth shut."

Wow, can you get any more @&@&&&&&? This old lady has to pay becuase
ignorance is not an excuse? Wait, lets look at this. She never had
internet, probably didnt have a clue who the RIAA or MPAA is, and
had no way of knowing what her son did. So we are going to threaten
to sue her for a large sum of money she doesnt have, for something
that she didnt know was happening... and get this... LEGALLY had no
responsibility for. If they wanted to sue someone, they legally
should have gone after the son who downloaded the music and payed
the bill...
I mean why else would they have gone the route they did so that they
could get a seperate bill unless the son was paying for it?
To put it in terms everyone can understand, its like me going to
your house, downloading music, without your knowledge, and then you
getting sued. Makes no sense whatsoever...
