 Tiger Woods Out...Until August!

| | (Post a comment) » Unlocking the GeForce 6800Earlier this month we took a look at EVGA's e-GeForce 6800 graphics card. In the review, we gave the card high marks for its excellent price/performance ratio. But what if you could turn NVIDIA's 12-pixel pipeline, $200 GeForce 6800 into a 16-pixel pipeline/6 vertex unit card for free? In today's article, that's exactly what we did! See how the 16-pixel pipeline/ card performs as well as the 12-pipe GeForce 6800 with 6 vertex shaders. Is the card able to take down GeForce 6800 GT and RADEON X800 XL? Find out in this article! | Previous news article | Back to main news | Next news article |

I am DELIGHTED to announce that my ASUS 6800NU, now unlocked to 16x6
has OC'd successfully to 415MHz on the core and 879MHz mem. Got
these using the coolbits detect optimal frequencies. Best thing now
is that after hours of playing most wanted, the GPU temp is only 70C
as opposed to the previous 75C! My 3dmark03 score is a beautiful
10547! At stock, it was just 8725 on 3dmark03. Amazing stuff. AND NO
ARTIFACTS! :D:D

I just got the BFG 6800GS OC and put a Arctic Cooling NV5 on it.
After 2 hours of BF2 at full load it stays a 62c and idles at 52c.
A NV5 will take care of your heat problems...it looks cool too.

I've got an Asus Geforce 6800 with 256mb. It's got GDDR3 and I've
successfully managed to unlock the pipes. I've also overclocked it
to 350/750 and it runs NFS MW very well. No artifacts so far! Wanna
raise the speeds higher, but I'm concerned about the temp on the
card. It's 75C on load! Any advice?

unlocking 6800
i just got a 6800xt and unlocked the shaders and pipes
stock its 8pipes 4 shaders, i unlocked it to 16pipes and 6 shaders
but i get this glitch on my screen and when i play games. i did some
trial and error and i figured that when i unlock all the shaders (
making it 8pipes 6shaders ) everything is fine but when i unlock the
8 extra pipes the glitch shows. is there anyway i could fix this ?

I unlocked the vertex only. When I unlock the pixels to 16, I get
flickering. It also happend when I tried to open F.E.A.R and the
whole game had ziggy like lines!
Any ideas to clean it up?

I have a big question that I would love to recieve an answer too. I
unlock pipes just fine and the shader, and my board loves
overclocking. The only issue with it is that in Half life 2, or
source engine games, with 16 pipes and 6 shaders, I get a light
flicker through all the textures. other games do not do this, only
source games. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.
The performance increase is incredible, I go up about 20 frames per
second in half life 2, incredible. I have tried clocking it back to
normal and that didnt help, I have also centered the problem to the
pipes. With the shader on it perfect, when the pipes go on I got my
source flicker. Any thoughts welcome.

I noticed something in rivatuner and the nvidia control panel after
I unlocked my card, and this was that no matter how you change the
clock frequency for the core or memory (and this includes lowering
the value), both apps fail the test. So this is a bug that results
from unlocking the card. Something that I found that works quite
well, is overclocking the card FIRST, then unlocking the pipelines.
I overclocked my 6800 to 350mhz core and 830mhz memory, then I
unlocked the card and I've run half-life 2, World of Warcraft,
3dmark 05, and some nvidia demos for hours on end and notices no
instability. So this small work around might work for you! I'm
going to try locking the card back to defaults and overclocking a
little more and unlocking it again and so on until I find the best
config.

I didn't read all the comments, but I would like to mention that
BFG's 6800GT OC has enabled all the pipelines already. I was going
through the instructions here and "snap" they were already
enabled. Sweeeeeeeet. :)
