BS, I have a 2.8ghz and I never drop below the 35fps mark with a
radeon x300se. I have everything enabled, including 2x
anti-aliasing, high quality, etc. Just lowered the resolution,
looks f'ing great.

You are a moron. I have a p4 2.8ghz with 512mb crap RAM, and a crap
ATI Radeon x300se. ALL I disabled was the shadows, and with a
little tweaking it looks great. Lower your resolution and up your
quality. Simple as that.

This is the second article from Firing Squad that has disappointed
me. First they ask what do you want to see as far as CPU testing
for Q4, and there were SEVERAL requests to include a Athlon XP 3200+
so we could see the performance improvement going to an A64. So
what do they do? They concentrated on high end CPUs, ignoring our
requests.
Now there is an article on MAINSTREAM video cards on Q4, and they
neglect to include 6600GT and 6800NU cards, which are arguably the
most mainstream cards out there, yet they include the X700pro.
Sucks!

Hey, great guide.
More than anything, it really shows how high of a CPU is needed to
run Q4.
Great job. I love the new interactive design of the
charts/screenshots.

Nice Guide, and very helpful. I guess for FPS hardcore club trying
Quake 4 is a must even if it fails to impress to such extent as
Quake 2 did (at least in my case).
So well done with this guide!
The only point I am missing is audio. Since I got X-Fi Fatal1ty I
pay attention to sountrack and effects much more then before.
It's fun ;)
So just in case you happen to have X-Fi or even Audigy:
Make Sure You Change Sound Setting From Default to OpenAL.
This will improve
-voice count (max of 60 if you have Audigy, 128 if you have X-Fi)
-surround sound credibility
-sound smoothness and detail
This is especially important if you have X-RAM on your X-Fi and/or
you are gaming using headphones.
Surround sound over headphones in default mode is less convincing
than in open AL mode, try it for yourself, it's a huge difference
with EAX occlusion effects on, more simultanous voices and very
good, precise surround sound. It does not adversly affect FPS so
it's worth it.

nice guide, but the game itself is terrible that it won't let you
adjust lighting out of the box, and that you have to download fixed
maps for it.
