-Life like graphics
-The physics makes the game very replayable, gives you so much freedom to kill someone.
-Story was ok.
-Sound is way above average.
-The game is pretty long, and quite a bang for your buck.
-Scripted sequences are nice.
-The vehicle controls are the best I've ever used in a FPS.

Those guys at Valve basically put together an almost perfect game. Anchored by the awesome graphics and the physics engine, combined with all of the other elements(even if they were average) made this game incredible.
When you play this game you don't get bored often because you can use so many ways to accomplish something because of the physics. It's like living in a real world. Aside from that, every weapon is balanced so that every weapon is useful in some situations, this makes the game even more dynamic.
The scripted sequences and the level design were straight forward and were of very good quality. They don't make it repeat that much.
The scary atmosphere is very good, not as good as Doom3, but it ups Doom3 because it does not have only one atmosphere, HL2 creates many more, way more.
Valve actually made vehicles fun to use, the controls on them are fun to use and the physics engine makes it so realistic. It's better than Halo's.
I'm a huge FPS fan, and HL2 ranks probably at the top right now. I have amd2100/ati9700. It runs very good at 1024x768 at everything middle on the details.
Such an awesome game. |
