-Lots of Xmen characters to choose from as well as other villians.
-Lots of cool special effects from each character's attacks.
-Nice varied skill tree for each character.
-Feels like diablo, but with 4 players.
-Multiplay coop.
-Very good voice acting
-Lots of chance interactions with other villians, i.e. some interactions will only occur when you have a certain character in your party.
-The game feels faithful to the xmen universe.
-Option to allow the other party members to level and select inventory automatically, a BIG PLUS to cut the huge hassle involved in managing(unlike dungeon siege and many other party based games).

-Too easy in the normal difficulty, you can cut thru most situation with any characters.
-There is no new weapons/attachments you can wield. The only thing is "weapon that comes with your character" upgrades, and they add no new special effects other than increased stats. Same goes to armors.
-Your other party doesn't fight too weel.
-your party seem to use half assed efforts during fights, i.e. you'll do most of the work. It made me feel they are just side show bobs.
-Too many characters to choose from, quite a few of them feels the same, many will have very simular abilities, even if they have a different mix.

Overall I feel that as I played along, the game got dull because the characters have limited abilities, and the balance is not good enough. The area effect skills are pretty useless because there aren't many situation where you get swarms of enemy coming at you(like diablo).
And As I played on, I got this comparison with Diablo because of many simularties. At the end, I know diablo is a better game by a medium margin mostly because the enemy/main gameplay design were better balanced. In xmen, there was not enough situation to effectively use all the skills that the characters had. Plus, their normal difficultly level didn't showcase their gameplay properly, it was way too easy. I think it's important to extract the best gameplay in normal difficulty, because this is where most people will choose, but they have not done that.
I'd play hard diffculty if you want more fun. |
