The game requests you to insert the apropriate game disk. According to the manual this is disk 1; however, on the website it say this was a typo, and it should be disk 2. Well concidering the DVD version only has one disk, I bet you can guess the problem...
Pirates Gold requires you to get a cpu slow down utility. The CPU Slow down utilities they have links for are both around $25, and no where on the DVD do they include the information on how to get past the flag copy protection. So 2 minutes out of port you are gunned down unless you get a lucky guess.

I can't believe they released this with out even testing it to ensure it would work. Pathetic QA Atari. I'm just glad EB has a return policy so I can exchange this for the CD version. I loved the original game way back on my C64, and Amiga. I rushed out as soon as I realized it was re released only to have this problem. I sure hope no one plans on giving the DVD version as a Christmas present as the receiver is going to be very disapointed.
Untill I get the CD version I can only give this a 1. |
