Yea, I'm still scared...

» Pros

The graphics and sound in this game are bar none the best ever seen in a game. That 5.1 system you have just got another use. The game does run descent if you have your settings set to what your pc can handle. There is even a story line that makes most Hollywood sci-fi movies look bad. The gameplay is solid, you are a marine, so expect to only be shooting stuff. Enemy ai is really good. Enemies duck and cover and will change fighting tatics if get to close. All your old favorite doom guns and enemies are back only upgraded to todays standards and with a couple extras. Scary as hell!

» Cons

There are some extremely minor graphical flaws( one of the enemies clipped his arm through an elevator door as I ran back into it). The game has a great story, but I would have rather had to go to hell at like the end of the game instead of in the middle of the game. It seems a little anticlimantic. The game is a system hog. I recommend 1 gig of ram and the best cpu and vid money can buy. The game chugged when things get hot even on my athlon 64 2800 with 512mb of ram and a radeon 9800pro. But then maybe I should try to run it on the recommended settings, =-) The worst thing is that the game ends. Not to much replay factor since the multiplayer is limited to 4 players.

I played the game on marine difficulty. It's not to tough, but I did die a few times partially because of pilot error, i.e. reload before entering room, or use a bigger gun. Doom 3 is a jaw-dropping game to behold, walking around the mars station is just incredible. Farcry has the "aww" factor but doom3 has triple the "aww" factor. Pun intended. id really put a lot of effort to scare gamers this time around. Monsters wait in behind doors, teleport in behind you and will pop out of walls and in one instance, pop out from behind a computer terminal you are opperating! The game last roughly 20 hours unless you don't sleep and eat on a regular basis, which this game might cause. It is worth mentioning that multiplayer is included in the game, but just as a bonus. I think 4 player multiplayer sounds a little weird, but very practical in the dark and claustorphobic maps included with the game. id software released not only one of the best games so far this year, if not an instant classic. Go buy a copy, install it(duh), crank up the volume and turn off the lights, because Doom3 has just invaded your system and life!
