-Good Graphics, not great. Doom III is great.
-Medicore sound.
-Lots of weapons(10 but each with alt firing mode)
-Some scripted sequences were nice, they were very few far and in-between.
-Defensive missions are a first in a single player game, but feels like playing Fortress.
--Voice acting was alright.

-Feels unoriginal in some parts of the game, feels played before, ie half life, system shock.
-The guy run's too slow
-Most of the time, not a whole lot of monsters to shoot at, but there are exceptions.
-Some weapons are pretty useless.

I've been playing FPS's since Wolfenstine 3-D, and maybe this is why I find most of this feel like other FPS's. The last good FPS I played is probably Undying and Medal of Honor. Doom III looks real promising. For Unreal II, I just can't get the feeling of a good FPS mainly because it seems like it's been done before. Plus the story was not too engrossing.
About the slow run complaint. I think Epic felt the game was too short, so this is why the guy runs like he's walking. Even after that, people are still complaining of a short game.
Anyways, normal difficulty is good enough for a good fun/challenge mix. I was never a fan of maxing the difficulity in FPS's, the last game I did that was SOF2, it killed me doing trial and error so many time.
I maxed out all graphics but left the shadows to default and it ran smooth all the way. I use 1024x768 32bit, no AA.
Overall, the game was not too exciting. |
