-Graphic engine so good it has it's own TV show, IE. "Decisive Battles" in the History Channel.
-Appeals to both Turn-based or Real time fanatics for single player only.
-Extremely deep gameplay, will keep you interested for a long, long time.
-Outstanding sound and music, gives you chills listening to the troops right before a battle.
-Most importantly, it's fun as hell.

-Gameplay could use some tweaking; unit movement, faster building construction, etc.
-No option to win the game without being at war through out the entire campaign. Then again, it's not called Total War for nothing.
-Need to have the latest graphic card with Directx9b to play, which means most laptops will not play this game.

Rome Total War is the type of game that will keep you playing through the wee hours of the morning, then make you dream about different strategies while you're sleeping, and will make work intolerable because it's taking time away from the game. It's that good!
I'm a History Channel fanatic, because I love to learn about different strategies used by the great Generals through out history. I loved Braveheart, the Patriot, Troy, and every other movie that showed great battles between huge armies. This game gives you the chance to actually try all the different types of strategies without feeling like a chore. I hate real time strategy games because they depend on how fast you can click on units, and most of the time I feel like I'm not in control, especially in multiple fronts situations. Thanks to the interface and the ability to pause the game and issue orders to all your units, I never lost control of my army and I was able to lead a four prong attack on a town without feeling like it was too much for me to follow. This game will definetely test your leadership skills as a General, you will have to think and plan in short, medium and long terms to be able to win the capaign. You will have to lead your armies to fight and gain more power to be able to conquer different enemies of Romes, and when all your enemies are defeated you will have to fight your greatest enemy, the Romans themselves.
I highly recommend this game to everyone, even if you're not into strategy games, Rome Total War will win you over. |
